Ozzy Osbourne, the gloomy, demon-invoking lead singer of the pioneering band Black Sabbath who became the throaty, growling voice — and drug-and-alcohol ravaged id — of heavy metal, died Tuesday, just weeks after his farewell show. He was 76....

He did a very popular and ultimately his final gig a few weeks ago. Raised a lot of money for charity, but in all of it something just didn't sit right with me. Long time fan.. and it was kind of sad to see him sort of wheeled out on stage and sing a few songs while others sang the bulk of the rest of the concert. Maybe that's what he wanted.. or maybe that's what his wife wanted. I don't know. But at some point I felt uncomfortable. People with his condition are vulnerable and deserve to be protected.

It was by design.  He couldn't stand anymore and knew he'd try to get up in the moment of it all.  He was frail and vulnerable and he knew it, but was pretty important to him to sing "Mama, I'm Coming Home" to Sharon one last time.  

 

Sharon planned the event according to Ozzy's wishes.  His favorites came out to support and raise money for charity.  It's funny...he said himself "the Prince of Darkness is still here" but that was just his alter ego.  He was an ooey, gooey gummy bear underneath it all.  The grandkids turned him into an ultra softie.  Saw some video of them rockin out at that farewell gig, pink headphones and all.  

 

It will be interesting to see what Sharon gets up to now.  She's apparently planning Kelly's wedding but Ozzy had always kept her pretty busy.  They really one another's yin to the yang.
