He's here! He arrived yesterday. I'm trying to print the I94 to bring to the SS office to apply for his SSN.

So first, the instructions here say to put the A# in for the document number on the I94 form online. I tried that and no record came up. However when I put in his visa number, we had his travel history, including this trip. Is that the "I94"? It doesn't say "I94" anywhere on the page. Do I just print the Travel History there and bring it?

Second, do we apply for the SSN for his daughter at the same time?

TIA for any help!

you should get his I-94 directly from the CBP site

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/home

the tab "get most recent I94"

you just put his information and his passport number.

I would suggest you apply for his daughter as well.

otherwise she will have to wait for the I-485 to be approved. which can make things like taxes harder (if their greencard process takes that long)

It's definately passport number, full name and date of birth needed for I94. They probably won't ask for the Travel History, but good to take just incase. Note that these expire too, they're only valid for about 1 month, it's a tiny expirary date on the bottom of the print out, easy to miss. If you need to go back to SSA in future, which is likely, you'll need new print outs.

No reason to not apply for daughter now. I saw a recent post here from someone who did not do that and they are now suffering complications with taxes and school tuition.

Also, this.

Travel History is NOT the I94. They are seperate docs.

See if daughter I-94 can be printed as well by looking up with her passport number.

Then can use that for daughter SSN.

I was clicking on Travel History from the actual I94 😅 Ok, so we're good for that!

Thank you!

I think you need appointment for SSN office. Also my wife waited a week after arriving and the clerk couldn't verify her information in the save system. She tried a month after arriving and she was able to be helped. This was last fall as a data point.

I was always advised to wait about 2 weeks after arriving before going to the SSA to apply for a SSN so it allows time for all the relevant systems to sync and update, etc. My appointment was just over 2 weeks after arriving in the USA.
