Green Card holder here. On all of my documents, Visa sticker, packet, Green Card, etc., my Country of Birth is listed as Hong Kong or HNK.

I noticed when I applied for a Driver's License in New York when they verified my status on the SAVE system, it listed my Country of Birth as CHN - China.

Do you know what system that would be listed in, and should I get it corrected? As of now, Hong Kong is still a SAR and is listed separately from China, so not sure what system has that information.

Thanks in advance.

Well that's a fun one. Its a system run by the USCIS.

If you got your License issued and your Social security card issued without this being an issue, I would leave it alone. I think those are the only 2 times you deal with SAVE

Also if you want to become a federal contractor or employee after naturalizing. In that case since they’re aware of the difference in SAVE, probably worth typing up a two sentence explanation on the SF-85P or SF-86. Won’t affect many but worth mentioning in case this impacts others.
