K-1 visa: lied about not knowing anyone in the United States on previous B-2 visa interview

Hello, we’re about to have the interview for my fiancés k-1 visa. She was rejected twice in the past for immigrant intent on both the F-1 and B-2 visas. She also lied when asked if she knew anyone in the states and said no during the B-2 interview. Our attorney told us to disclose this on our DS-160 for this visa. We’ve been together for 3.5 years and submitted strong evidence of our relationship. We were hoping to get outside opinions last minute here on our chances. Any advice is much appreciated.

Disclosing this in the DS-160 is the right thing to do.

The immigration services do their homework and are ready (not sure why some people are surprised).

 

Be ready to be scrutinized and prepare as much evidence as you can to prove your relationship.

I agree with the attorney's recommendation.  My now wife did not disclose that she knew me back when she applied for the second time for a B2.  The CO, during the B2 interview, actually asked about me, so somehow the consulate knew, and my then girlfriend did acknowledge she knew me.  She was rejected for the B2, but she was ultimately approved for a K1 about 6 months later (yes things moved faster back then).  Not really sure this is material mis-representation, but it sounds like you have an attorney advising you, so they should know better.

No reason to lie anymore if you have strong evidence and it's a long term relationship. 

 

Unfortunate about the previous dishonesty but the best thing to do is to learn from that mistake and be fully transparent moving forward.
