Case transferred to overseas embassy but still have not received NOA 2 (Merged threads)

Hello,

I was notified via email that the K1 visa petition has been sent to the U.S. Embassy. Does this count as NOA2?

If not should the petitioner or beneficiary be receiving the NOA2 via in writing?

Not sure if i should be waiting for paperwork to fill out or proceed.

According to the letter the next steps should be to learn how to apply for the visa and prepare for the interview.

Thanks in advance.

The NOA2 will be the approval notice from USCIS...a hard copy sent to the petitioner.

did your status update on uscis? You usually go into transit 3-5 weeks after NOA2 so petitioner should have had it in mail by now. I would contact uscis to get a replacement if not because you'll need it for aos

  • 1 month later...

Hello,

I got notice via email (K1-FTP) that my case was transferred to embassy overseas. A few of weeks later I received email that my fiancé can apply for visa application.

Its been over a month and I still have not received NOA2 while the case is continuing.

Should I be contacting USCIS for this letter? Does my fiancé need to furnish this letter along with NOA1 letter at the interview?

Also checking case status on the USCIS website has not updated the case. It still marked as the case only being received which was a year ago.

Thanks for your advice.

If it helps to know, our I129F was approved on December 14 and transferred to the embassy in January, and I just got NOA2 in the mail today. This probably is not typical as I complicated matters by conveniently moving and changing my address immediately after the petition was approved. If your fiancé is already scheduling their interview, it sounds like everything is good. In our case, the email we got from the embassy (Bogota) had several attachments, one of which was the scanned copy of the I129F with a stamp of approval. Of course, we're nowhere near done with this process, so I'll let someone else who knows more comment on if having the NOA2 in your hand is really crucial or not.
