(K1) Got green card after 5 months and no interview? Am I misunderstanding?

I crossed the border in June and got married in June, then I got my biometrics done in September. Just this week I got an ID card in the mail that says "Permanent Resident", is green, and looks like other cards I see on Google Images when I search "US green card".

 

But I'm confused. First, the USCIS website says processing times for the field office near me are several multiples longer than the time I've waited. But more importantly, I haven't even gone to the interview yet.

 

Am I misunderstanding what card I got? Did I get it in error? Is there an additional card I'll get after the interview? Am I still considered in the AOS stage? What are the limitations on me at this time (e.g., can I work? Can I travel outside the US?)

Sounds like you hit the jackpot.  Congratulations...... You are a lucky legal resident.  Remember-  Removal of Conditions awaits you in 2 years.

LFO is determined by zipcode not location. Did you look yours up on the Field Office Locator website to confirm?

Interview is 50/50 chance.

No. Unless you didn't get a GC now. As above, interview is 50/50.

With an approved GC? No. You are a CPR.

Based on history, the OP probably came on K-1. But good question to make sure OP was inspected and admitted properly.

Yeah. To me “cross the border” has a negative connotation, but I might be wrong

it means you sent in documentation where they felt confident you met the burden of proof and waived the interview.

Congratulations! It happens. My husband had his green card in hand in less than 3 months (submitted AOS toward the end of May and got the green card in the beginning of August with no interview required). We were confused and surprised, but happy!
