My fiance's interview is this Monday and if all goes well, we plan to marry on Oct. 6 with a honeymoon the week to follow.

We have discussed several places but are still unsure where we want to go, so I thought I would ask for ideas.

We have to stay in the USA, obviously...but would like someplace not too terribly cold, relaxing and fun. My fiance is from Sydney, Australia, so someplace with beaches really means nothing to him...which is fine with me as well. We have also ruled out a couple of places for personal reasons. Hawaii, Las Vegas and Miami area.

This may sound lame, but the place we are liking the most right now is San Antonio & Austin, Texas.

I would LOVE to hear ideas or places you have gone and loved. Maybe if you could include what you liked about such place, that would be fantastic.

01-29-07 - Found out from USCIS that my lawyer had filed at the wrong service center and nothing has been processed.

02-08-07 - Found out that our petition had been closed back in Oct. 2006. No one was ever notified of this from USCIS

02-09-07 - Began gathering paperwork once again to start all over. Started cancelling our wedding plans

02-20-07 - Filed for a K-1 visa once again

02-27-07 - NOA1

04-21-07 - Originally planned wedding date (had to cancel) :(

05-22-07 - Touched

06-01-07 - Granted a Congressional Inquiry!

06-15-07 - NVC received our approved I-129F petition (I never received an NOA2 via email or snail mail). We are just so HAPPY to finally move on!

06-25-07 - Packet 3 received (but it was rec'd by our lawyer, she has forwarded it on to my fiance in Australia)

06-28-07 - Fiance rec'd Packet 3

06-30-07 - Finally rec'd NOA2 via snail mail. It is dated June 25, same day as Packet 3 was rec'd.

07-05-07 - Mailed back form letter DSL-1076 (Applicant's Statement of Readiness to be Interviewed).

07-05-07 - Just waiting now in hopes of an interview date before APEC

07-13-07 - Received Packet 4

07-30-07 - Interview!!!! - APPROVED!

09-01-07 - Fiance arrives in the USA!

10-06-07 - Getting Married

Too bad you ruled out Las Vegas, we went there and it was so much fun! Anyway, San Antonio is nice and we just ecently went to Galveston, TX and that is def a nice place too!

San Antonio is a lovely place. New Orleans is nice too and they've really done a lot to imnprove tourism since Katrina, so there may be some great deals available for you. http://www.neworleansonline.com/

Thanks for the suggestion. We actually discussed New Orleans as an option but it seemed when we looked things up on the internet, so much of it was still being rebuilt and we decided against it. But I will check out the link you sent...maybe we were not looking in good places.

Can you tell my why you enjoyed San Antonio? Fun places, sites, etc. (besides the 2 obvious...riverwalk and the alamo).

Chicago is a great city. Theater, interesting buildings, cool museums, great restaurants, weather should still be nice in October. There is a lake, but you aren't obligated to go to the beach, but its still nice to walk along. I find it to be an exhilerating place to be!

If you can afford it I highly recommend Hawaii.

I do love Hawaii (for visiting anyway), but we have been there a couple of times and wanting someplace 'new'. That is the only reason we ruled out Hawaii.

Our family booked us a "mini-honey moon": 2 days in a B&B less than an hour from us. But it was really nice. The place was so romantic and the people really great (and the food awesome even if the host wasn't happy because she had been unable to give us her full 4 course dinner). :lol:

The very touristic part of New Orleans (French Quarter & close by areas) was not affected by the damage, not flooded at least. So there is a lot to see. And then you have all the old plantations and plenty of historical places to visit around.

If you go to Austin & San Antonio: There is the Alamo yes, but also the 4 other missions in the area to visit (the Alamo is part of them), there is the Mexican Market (eat at Mi Tierra) if you go there. Austin has of course the Capitol.

You can go farther West to fredericksburg (not sure if I spelled it right), it's a neat little town founded by the Germans with great breweries and not far from Enchanted Rock, a state park with I think the 3 biggest "boulder" (after Ayers Rock & Stone Mountain).

If you go to Florida there are all the natural springs (although lately I've heard a lot of them were low on water), but they are pretty incredible and the water surprisingly is cold, like really cold.

We live in the Appalachian Mountains, in NC which turns beautiful in October with the Fall colors. There is Biltmore Estate to Visit in Asheville, plenty of outdoor sport opportunities, the Smokies National Park, the Nantahala river, etc.

I guess it depends on what you'd like to do during your honeymoon really...
