Great question! Every consulate operates a bit differently, so it will vary depending on the beneficiary's country. You can usually find the requirements on your consulates' travel.state.gov site on the list here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html

Be careful to note specific instructions for K-1 visas. On your consulate’s page, also look for the link to your consulate’s main embassy.gov website for additional information (for example, https://uk.usembassy.gov/ for United Kingdom).

 

For most that I've seen, you'll want to start looking into:

• Getting the required police certificates
• Gathering requirements for the the I-134 form.
• Getting vaccination records, and getting any missing vaccinations. A table of required doeses is here.
• Renewing the beneficiary's passport if needed -- it will need to have at least 6 months validity once you enter the US, and will probably be easier to renew while inside their home country.

But again, verify what you need you need for the interview on the consulate's site as well.

Saw two that went to my consulate but my status still says “at NVC”… how do I know if I am among them? 🫣🫣. Also very much appreciate you doing Google doc - gives me smth else to obsess over haha.

Your case won't be inluded here until NVC has marked it as transit.

Using the nvc inquiry form I asked about my status last week (7/3, 30 days after noa2) and recived an email today confirming they recieved my petition and it is awaiting data entry into their system.

 

I though petitions were being held at the service centers for longer then 30 days?

Joining this thread with a NOA2 date of 14 June 2023. My first NVC inquiry on 3 July got a reply on 10 July stating "not received yet". Hopefully NVC is speeding up a bit just like USCIS has recently.

On Tuesday I got reply "not received yet", and on Wednesday, I got received, but not entered in system yet.

Your inquiry was a little too soon. Hang in there. You will get there in a week hopefully.

My first NVC inquiry was 7/7 and yesterday I got a reply saying they have received but not entered in the system yet.

Out of pure curiosity, what purpose does the NVC inquiry serve? Won't they send a welcome e-mail about the receipt anyways?

From what I learned here they don't send those letters for K1 applicants anymore.
