Greetings everyone..I hope everyone is doing well. So, beyond blessed and thankful that our k1 has finally been approved. Few concerns came into mind though. So I know our approved k1 petition remains valid for 4 months, is there a way to somewhat extend our k1’s validity? My fiancee lives in the UK right now and wants to possibly fly here August 2024.

I assume you mean the I-129F has been approved.  I don't know of any way to slow down a K-1.  NVC will assign a case number, then send it right to the consulate.  After you have a DOS case number, you could ask the consulate to hold it, but I believe it cannot be extended beyond a year.  Spousal visas, on the other hand, can be slowed at the NVC stage for years.

You will have 6 months after medical to fly to the US. I suppose you could schedule an interview then reschedule again to a later date to prolong your partner’s time in the UK BUUUUUUUT CO might question why the interviews were delayed. Another member delayed her interview and CO requested more relationship evidence. Would you be visiting your partner in the UK between now and August 2024?

I've also seen a denial due to excessive K-1 interview rescheduling.

Yeah I will be visiting her again December of this year. Thank you all for the much needed response. I supposed the best thing we can really do schedule an interview and reschedule but I see the risk here of the CO thinking our relationship could be no longer a legitimate one. But yeah the reason why she needs to prolong her stay is because of her lease contract with her future landlord..I'm just hoping the best here.

Oh! Is it not possible to break the lease? Or maybe look for a shorter term lease if she hasn’t moved into the new place yet? I had to break mine when I moved to the US.  There was a penalty to pay but we were more interested in being together in the US as opposed to prolonging the time out of the country.

Very odd reason to delay the visa by over a year.   There must be more to this.

Can't she negotiate a month-to-month lease with her landlord? It seems doable in the UK: https://www.gov.uk/private-renting-tenancy-agreements

So, after a year of waiting we finally got approval of our K1, but now my fiancee wants to stay a bit longer to save a bit of money. So our k1 got approved on April 2023 and US Embassy in London just sent her a notice on what to do next..she plans on staying until August of 2024. Is it true that you can extend the k1 validity for another 4 months many times? Has anyone ever done this process and what was the experience? Thank you all so much for your help.

I have not seen threads of anybody who has done it. Usually, it is extended due to circumstances beyond one’s control (i.e. Covid delays) and it’s at the discretion of the consulate.

I do apologize for the duplication of thread here. So, I'm a little confused as to how to do this process..She would need to file everything as instructed like DS-160, get medically examined, and etc. Once done so, she can then go that interview so she can give the letter stating to extend the validation of our petition for another 4 months, right?

I would request the extension and delay of the interview before any medical exam (which expires after 6 months so there’s really no point of completing one) and interview. However, as I mentioned, I doubt the consulate will extend it several times and it’s fully at their discretion whether or not they will grant you an extension. If you go this route be prepared to take the risk - which is them denying the extension and then you’ll have to to either bite the bullet and interview and get the visa and move or let it expire and file anew for another fiancé or spousal petition.
