Amazing. As a former petroleum supply and Mech Infantry officer I can tell you reducing fuel demands by up to 50 % is monumental advantage on the battlefield.  Many battles have been lost by the supply trains not being able to keep up with the advance of armored and mech Infantry units. It has even tired the direction of wars.

if you introduce hybrid motors or fully electric motors, you are currently relying on the supply of strategic materials from an adversary nation. China.

 

Where do you go to replenish active service losses? Certainly not to a nation actively working against your interests.

 

Also, the increase in cost and complexity will actively work to reduce force levels, which are already, apparently, dangerously below requirements.

 

We need to concentrate on combat effectiveness and maintain an independent, indigenous supply chain.
