Inhumane?

I'd hardly call it that.  The immigration process is voluntary.  As with any major life change, it pays to do one's due diligence in researching the options.  Every single time someone comes to VJ inquiring about the K-1, they are given a list of tangible drawbacks.

Own your process, do your research, make choices you can live with.

k1 or CR1 both are garbage processes, and why do things like this suck? because people put up with it like sheeple as they have been taught to do in public schools

don't make excuses for them..

They already do when the K-1 entrant marries and applies for Adjustment of Status.

they make you wait how long to get that authorized? and how does that compare to just waiting for the AOS to process?

how much do you lose per month not being able to work and how does it affect a human being on a psychological level?

LOL, no one here is making excuses, nor are USCIS/DOS customers "sheeple."  It's not like anyone can take their business elsewhere.  By all means, vent,  write letters, vote, etc.  But like for any formal process, there are rules, and most of the waiting is because (surprise!) lots of other people had the same idea.

Maybe someday, AI will be able to complete what humans do now at lightning speed.

The alternative to losing money while waiting for an EAD is to choose the CR-1, so that there is no need to adjust status.  If you feel victimized on a psychological level by USCIS wait times, that is on you to manage your own coping skills, not "the system."

You can complain about the process. We all agree there are issues.

but, you should complain from a place of knowledge.

The K1 process used to be easier but people abused the system and now others have to deal with the changes in the system.
IMO, they’re making K1s and AOS more onerous to disuade people from going down that path…

Maybe they should process K1 AOS differently to tourist AOS.

Maybe they shouldn’t allow people to adjust from ESTA/ tourist visas OR allow people to adjust if they’ve overstayed.
You are being myopic by only thinking about your situation. But, K1s aren’t the only ones adjusting status. And K1s do not get special treatment.
1.) Research the process you go through. Understand the history.

2.) Research spousal visas in your spouses country and explain how it is better and how it is worse… maybe you should move there instead.

K1s being unable to work for a few months or even a year is not a new thing. People have been complaining about the boredom and the difficulty for years.
I knew in 2015/2016, I didn’t want to move to the US on a K1 because of the work issue/ inability to get a drivers license without EAD
You made a decision to go with K1 based on various factors and you have to deal with the consequences: good and bad.

What does that have to do with USCIS?

You pay for a complex paperwork  that more than 1 person is working on and takes a lot of time. It's not like you're applying for a library card - it is so much more and those are well trained people who need to apply all legal rules, laws and so on. Plus, the us is a really huge country with a gazillion of applications- it sucks for everyone going through the process - but it takes time 🤷‍♀️

USCIS is not pressured by congress to improve.  Congress has no reason to pressure USCIS because their constituents don't care about, or know anything about,  legal immigration.  Legal immigration is simply not a priority. Honestly, most of us knew almost nothing about legal immigration before we started this. It never even crossed our minds. Legal immigration certainly never makes the news.  And I really don't think any of this is going to change.

There are immigrants in congress, they know and they care - but like others already said: they can't agree on something enough, to get the necessary votes to make changes in laws.unfortunately. But , to give the current administration credit, they changed already several things- sign up for uscis news/ changes or go on their homepage every once in a while😉

yes and the work permit application takes a long time, it's probably not worth filing at this time and just waiting for the AOS to finish unless they can speed things up

yep the zoom wedding looks to be the best way, but the problem is filing a ROM with the Philippines and having more legal ties to that country which is never a good idea in my experience

the USA is bad enough with puppet politicians and corruption but the Philippines is much worse with a less engaged public and almost entirely celebrity media

If it is so bad here, like you say......makes me wonder, why you chose to get here....🤔

People have a normalcy bias and like to be teacher’s pet.. that’s why they defend gross inadequacies in their governments - which only serves their egotism not improvements for the species

What would be helpful is developing petitions to police the USCIS through congressional laws

as well as ideas about how it could be improved - for example ;

Online databases of information to be verified rather than making people pay ridiculous fees to print out documents to send from one department to another…
