Customers Service? Who needs them? I worked customer service during my college years, it was terrible. Customers don't understand my situation in trying to keep my job. Some customers pretend that they can't read the signage label on the shelf, and want the item for that price. As much as I want to be able to change that, I cannot. I get harassed by the customers, it's not as easily done than said.

You see, getting paid a little over the minimum wage, and getting harassed by customers can cause a great deal of agitation on the employees. Some customers cannot even use a certain product, and they complain to you that the store should be able to fix it for no charge when the customer breaks it.

You need to calm down and understand both worlds. You were unique because you think you are the only one fighting for your way. But, the employee is probably stressed out by others other than yourself. You need to stop, and calmy in a kind voice to the employees. This will alleviate his/her stress by saying that you understand her stress, and she'll happily help you.

Whenever I walk into a store, and I see the customer bitching at the employee I want to teach that customer a lesson. They need to step into the employee's shoes for a day.

but...the customer is always right.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

This reminds me somewhat of an old pol-cartoon on "plan weak". Just like the sign, calling "fast food" as "fat food" is not inaccurate.

you trying to keep your job isn't why they call, is it?

also if an item is priced on the shelf for that, then guess what - they get it for that price!

Actually, that's not right. In the UK (and I'd assume pretty much all of the US will have a similar law), they don't have to sell it to you at the price that's on the shelf. As long as they remove all the product that's incorrectly priced from the shelf, then reprice the shelf and the product back, they are perfectly entitled not to sell it to you at that price.

If they do this over an over again however, (putting something on a shelf for one price then telling people, "No, sorry it's this price!") then they can be prosecuted.

However, the reason you probably have the impression that if it says X price I get it for X price, is because most companies will give the customer that price as a gesture of goodwill. They are not required to do so however (unless they have a promise to do so on display).

Having worked in a McD's during college, I can say that the screen they push to take your order just has names of products, not numbers. If a Big Mac is in the computer system at $.60 higher than the sign, there's nothing that the girl pushing the register buttons can do about it.

Well, in Brazil if you order a .99 cent hamburguer from the dollar menu, it actually costs .99 cents, and not 1.08, which makes a difference if you only have a one dollar bill (has happened to me as a student).

Sales tax is different from state to state and even city to city. That's why it's not included in the price; we do expect people to be capable of simple arithmetic.

I'm capable of more than simple arithmetic, but that doesn't help if you don't know that tax of any kind has yet to be applied!

the US was the 16th country I've visited, and the first in which the price displayed was consistently not the price you paid... I've got no problem with that; different places do things differently, but it's not my fault if I've never heard of that before : )

anyway, I know now ;)

as for the UK - prices here are heinous, I agree (I'm from Australia originally; been here three years, and as a rule of thumb most day-to-day items cost the same in pounds as they do in A-dollars - the problem comes in when you realise that the dollar buys about 38p currently), but you've got to remember how much higher other costs are - for example here in London rent alone would be outrageous for shops, let alone transport, utilities... it's not just 'profiit', as someone said earlier

and the customer is NOT always right; customers who insist this are, in my experience, almost always wrong, and rude with it :s

there are rude employees, sure, and they should be disciplined, but there are some horrible customers out there too

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.
