Entered U.S. on CR1 Visa, no stamp instead told to print I94

Hi there,

I entered the U.S. on a CR1 immigrant visa on Friday at the Montreal airport. The CBP agent in secondary processing at the airport told me they do not stamp visas anymore as a temporary proof of admission pending the green card. He said to instead just print my I94 record with the admission number on it as a proof of legal entry.

However, I can't get an I94 record showing my admission. When I run it with my passport number, it said my last entry was months ago on a B2 visa. When I try to get a I94 with my alien number, there is no record.

any help would be appreciated.

Mmm Ive never heard that but i entered a few years ago. If you are close enough to a CBP deferred entry office it would be worth calling if you can or going to the office preferably

Does the visa foil have the words along the bottom stating that the stamped visa becomes the temporary I 551?

He was wrong. You need the stamp. You will NOT find your I-94 as it’s not provided for LPRs.

You need to go on cbp website and look for the closest deferred inspection location. The. Go there so you can get the stamp and while there verify you’ve been activated/processed in the SAVE system.

Hello! My understanding is the same, I94 is no longer stamped in passports, regardless of visa status. I visited twice under VWP recently and my I94 was updated at https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/recent-search rather quickly. My habit is to keep a screenshot of my latest I94 for any paperwork required in US. Hope this helps.

I-94 is not provided to LPRs. You entered as a visitor not a LPR. Op needs to go nearest CBP office for a stamp because they didn't enter as a visitor.
