Hello all.

I submitted an application for K1 visa in August of 2021 and we're coming up on the 13.5 month time period currently shown on the USCIS website. My fiance in Ecuador separately submitted an interview request for B2 visas for her parents at the end of 2021. Today she received an email from the Quito Consulate notifying her that it's "Time to prepare for your visa interview." My question is if she would receive notice of her interview for our K1 visa application through email, or if this is actually for her parents' B2 visa request? I have not yet received an NOA2 in the mail.

How can they send a K1 interview notice if the case wasn’t even approved at USCIS stage? This was for B2 appointment for her parents, presumably she used her email when filling it out.

From the info in your post, the email is for the B2 visas.

B2 would not get notice for interview as interview(s) are scheduled online and each person prints out the document that allows them to get into the embassy -2 documents

Current wait time for Guayaguil is 473 days for tourist visa

I have not received any notice from NVC yet. After seeing these replies it looks like the email is for her parents' visa and not our K1 application given that I haven't heard anything since I received the NOA1 in August of 2021. Thanks for all the help!

Tourist visa applicants schedule their own appointments online when a space opens up

there would be 2 separate times

never heard of an embassy saying "time for u to prepare for your interview"  for tourist

nothing to prepare

473 days is the waiting time for Ecuador

don't wait for NVC /speak thru Emma and ask for a case # for your K1
