He took Lufthansa: Rome>Frankfurt>St Louis. With internal US travel a mess (Chicago is iffy in the best conditions) the last few months he picked the direct flight to me to avoid being stuck at immigration and missing a connecting flight.

To be fair, St. Louis doesn't exactly comes to mind when thinking of international airports. It wouldn't even make my list if would have to name 10 😁

I just go to Wikipedia article on the airport  and see what airlines and estimations fly there.
