My question now is, what will happen after she leaves? If China takes harsh action against Taiwan after this, I really don't believe Biden will honor his promise to defend them. My wife feels we shouldn't get involved. I guess I tend to agree, unless our allies are in danger, such as the Philippines, South Korea or Japan. That's my gut feeling, I guess. But then we never should have made a promise to Taiwan, in that case, that we had no intention to keep, if we do nothing

Gosh.  I hope this doesn't mean we are going to get cut off from all those cheap goods we get from Taiwan.  After all they may be marginally better than the cheap garbage we get from mainland China.

Apparently that is exactly what it does mean:

 

PLA is now performing live fire drills around the island and several airlines have canceled flights.  
 

Unless the USN is going to escort airliners and freighters, Taiwan is under blockade.

If this lasts, it will make the chip shortage of the last 18 months to pale in comparison.  Regardless, we have to be careful putting Nancy down, she is NB girlfriend material!
