Advance Parole Re-newal

Hello

 

I have a valid advance parole for 1 year as. I am awaiting my adjustment of status, I would like to start early enough to re-new my travel document since 6 months already elapsed:

1- Can I submit a new I-131 application 6 months in advance before expiry of my current advance parole?

2- Can I fill in and submit the new I-131 form while I am travelling outside the US with my current advance parole?

Yes and yes to both questions. You can apply up to 180 days before the expiration date on your AP document. They have been processing the renewals electronically now, so it shouldn't take more than a few months, but earlier is better.

For 2, note that you have to return before your first AP expires otherwise your pending new AP application will be deemed abandoned.

Thank you - indeed I will return before expiry, is just I will send the application signed papers per post from abroad as I am traveling.

You have to apply while in the US, not from abroad.

Why? Only re-entry permit and refugee travel document require you to be in the states when you apply, not the advance parole. Also I will return before expiry of the current one and wait for the new one.

Of course you can travel on your valid existing AP but discussion is about your new AP application.
