Documents required for B1 visa

Hello everyone, 

hope all doing  well. This is a great platform for some knowledge for visa preparation process.

I need your expert advice. I am British citizen working as a self employed in the Uk. I want to apply for USA B1 visa for my wife who came to the UK about 8 months ago as she is on spouse visa in Uk and she holds Pakistani Passport. I have my parents and siblings living in USA and i have visited US few times on Esta alone in the past ,but this time i want to go with my wife for 2 weeks to see my family . my wife recently started her part time job .

 

can you guys share some information and advise on what documents shall i submit for my wife’s B visa application?

Your wife will be applying for B2 visa not B1, of course you'll be helping in applying. Nothing to submit during the application. She may bring any documents tying her back to UK or her home country but COs may or may not look at those. She will just need to show up at the interview with finger crossed.

If she just started her job, don't get your hopes up. She'll have to prove strong ties to her country, and a recent work history doesn't help that.

When I applied for my B1/B2, I took a job verification letter, the title of my home under my name, and some paystubs. They never asked to see any of that.

Me? Yes, I did. The interview lasted not more than 3 minutes. I believe I even offered to show the documents, but the officer said no, you're approved, and that was it.

Same.  I even asked the CO twice if they wanted to see my documents, but they declined and just approved my B visa application.

did they ask how long you were at your current job in the interview, or did you job verification letter state that?

No, they did not ask. They never got to read the letter

My opinion does not really matter here, but I have the impression that the decision whether to grant you or not a visa is made within the first minute of the interview

oh wow. yeah, i've heard that theory before too, that they usually decide even before you enter the room almost. the interview is almost more of a formality of sorts.
