Everything went well the day of the interview except my husband was given the DS 5535 questionnaire at the end of his interview. We were placed in Administrative processing right after. We submitted the questionnaire the next day after his interview and now we are only waiting for the clearance to be over. My husband was told that it will take 6 weeks for the clearance to be over. Has anyone experience this in Senegal after there interview and know how long will it take for AP to be over?

not sure who told him 6 weeks as there is a long ds 5525 thread (search it at top )   here in VJ

most take anywhere from 6 months to a year

this will depend on his travel history and social media sites

do not worry if CEAC site shows Refused as that is for AP till a decision is made to approve of deny

How do you know that it will take up to six months? The consulate officer told him six weeks. I seen the thread you are talking about but its mostly from people from Montreal Canada.

My husband has just one travel history and only two social media accounts.

It could take a few weeks to many months.  Extended AP is open-ended since outside agencies are involved in the background checks.   Hopefully, your case will be short.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

He is not waiting for “clearance to be over.”

He is waiting for a decision (denial or approval) on his visa application.

He is in administrative processing.   There is no timeline on this.   It can take from days to years.

You may want to educate yourself a bit on the process.

The Montreal thread is of interest in particular, because it involves a normally very low fraud country.

High-fraud, high-risk countries have a much higher rate and longer history of the extra vetting.

but it seems to involve residents that were born in high fraud countries and now live in Canada

Thank you all for the clarification.

If anyone is going through the same process in Senegal or know someone who has and a decision has been made on the case, please share your experience. 🙏🏾

Just a heads up!!! On top of Dakar being a difficult Embassy, please be advised that even if you make it through and get approved. They are now giving Muslims which is 90% of the population in Senegal and The Gambia the new Form Trump started last year the DS-5535 that furthers your Administrative Processing and asks all types of questions like phone numbers, e-mails, and Social Media accounts for the last 5 years, some questions require information for the last 15 years as part of an extra vetting process to combat Terrorism. So add that to your list of frustrations and wait time. Some people were given the form immediately and some were emailed the form.

Although websites indicate, only MENA countries or .5% will be affected by the “extra vetting” there was many that had received that form or was returning that form when he returned his. So much for the .5%, when almost half the room had them.

Actually, many of the participants in the thread say they were born in Canada, as were their parents.
