Hello everyone,

A few days go asked your advice about my daughter arrival after getting family based visa.

What happened next is like a nightmare.

She got covid. Her test she got within 24 hours before the flight is positive. And she feels horrible. She has already checked in.

Her visa expires on the 7 of March.

We all are devastated and hope for her quick recovery.

What should we do if she us still positive by the time of visa expiration  ?

Thank you fir your input!

Hopefully, she will recover and obtain a negative test before the expiration of her visa.  If she is not able to travel before her visa expires, the consulate can, at their discretion, re-issue the visa   This will require a new medical.  Hopefully, she can travel prior to March 7th.

The wife and I were supposed to fly back to the USA today.  She got COVID 7 days ago and we have been checking each day using the home antigen tests.  With those, she tested negative after 6 days.  Unfortunately, I tested positive 2 days and again 1 day before our flight and I feel horrible too.  I will start testing again after 6 days.  We have both been vaccinated and received booster vaccinations.  If your daughter is fully vaccinated, she can anticipate going negative in about a week.  If her flight was non-refundable, contact the airline and let them know she tested positive.  Most airlines will issue an e-credit.  We booked a new flight for 2 weeks after our original departure date.  Good luck!

By the time of her flight she will have hopefully recovered. She can then get a note from a health care provider stating that she has recently recovered from covid. This statement plus her positive covid test from what will have been within 90 days prior to the flight should be sufficient. Technically people can test positive for up to 3 months after infection so this updated provision allows people who have recently been infected, but have recovered, to travel

Just to follow up on my situation with Covid.  On days 6-9 my daily antigen tests showed positive.  On day 10, my antigen test finally showed negative and we have now purchased new airline tickets using our e-credits.  I believe your daughter should hopefully be fully recovered by now and can reschedule her flight to the USA.   Again, good luck!
