Hi everyone,

My fiancé and I met and stayed together for a month in July of 2021, we submitted our application in October with details about our meeting, our relationship and more. I decided to go again to see him this winter and we had a small engagement party with his family. Am I able to submit additional photos and details about the second visit without USCIS asking for any additional details? We do feel confident about the first submission, but just wanted to see if additional submissions are possible without the request so our application is stronger. Thanks all!

I don't know if I would personally submit more details unless the USCIS specifically asked for more details, in which case you would submit them then. The documentation is worth keeping, though, if you need additional proof during the visa interview.

Others who are more experienced may have better advice, though.

1.  USCIS does not really care about the quality of the relationship.  They only care that a) you have met in person at least once in the past 2 years, b) that the petitioner is a USC, c) that you intend to marry within 90.days of the fiance arriving in the US.

2.  The embassy/consulate will evaluate your relationship evidence.  They will make a determination if it is a genuine relationship or if there are indications of fraud (green card scheme)...For difficult embassies it is recommended to "front load" the petition with relationship evidence.  This can also be brought to the interview.

3.  Specifically, we recommend against submitting "engagement party" evidence, especially if those parties look like wedding celebrations.  K1's need to be free and clear to marry, and sometimes engagment parties can be seen as wedding parties.

The following is the engagement in Tunisia

1st Day: Engagement

The Tunisian marriage, as well as the Moroccan marriage, begins according to the traditions of the engagement.

The bridegroom accompanied by his parents go to the home of his bride to formally request his hand.

Once the union is accepted by both families, some verses of the Koran are recited and cries of joy “Zaghrouda” announce their future union.

It is followed by signing the contract to marry

and then the the days after (1 to -many days) there is a celebration of marriage

A party that would include Tunisia fancy dress for the couple is going to appear to be a marriage celebration -not an engagement party

and i would think (as have happened in other interviews) that the CO would see these photos and say "too married for a K1 visa

Did u sign any marriage contract?

Yep, he is Tunisian. I did not sign any papers or a contract nor did he. We are not married. This has been helpful! Thank you!

That actually does not matter in cases where the CO suspects you are married.

If the engagement included the traditional dresses, then that can be interpreted against you.  Search for "too married for K1" here on VJ and you will find many posts of couples whose K1's were denied.
