General advice for someone new to the US

If you own a property or have a lease (rent a place), you can take that as evidence for coming back. You could take a copy of your future medical appointment. It's quite unfortunate that you quit your job rather than take a leave of absence, not just because it gives ties to your country but because any time of visa (fiance or marriage) is going to take roughly 2 years to get approved. 

 

It's also confusing whether you have met before. There's quite a difference between an online relationship and a one in which you've actually met and spent time together. You can have online relationship for 2 years, but online relationship is not easy because there can be a difference between what's on your imagination and what's actually true. So just be careful.

Thank you all for your advice. I hope this post doesn't come off as an excuse, I'm here to update my position and train of thought and make my probably last post on the topic.

 

I am a bit scared of everything, not going to lie, but I've reflected a lot, we've talked and, yeah, I was getting way ahead of myself. This was all on me. I let burnout and anxiety guide my questions and choices and I fully understand now the position I'm in. When I come back, I'll probably search for another job (I've seen a couple positions that could use of someone with my skill set) back at my place, but that's something I'll decide on when I'm recovered. I thought I was careful, but seeing how wrong I was, I'll be a lot more careful from now on. I feel like starting this thread was 1) a reckless thing to do, as I was ahead of myself and really anxious, and 2) a smart thing to do to get a painfully needed dose of reality. I deeply, deeply apologize for the conmotion I've caused, though, and I appreciate your patience.

 

If they let me in through a simple interview, or 'secondary' as I think it's called, I'll post an update or edit this post. If they don't, I doubt I'll have the courage or energy to do so. This trip was originally (despite all), and will/would only be to heal emotionally by his side. The flight is on the 22nd. Thank you for your good wishes.

You'll be "interviewed" at the border regardless as you are passing through CBP. Secondary is when after your first "interview" they pull you aside and take you into another area or room for a "second" interview, hence "secondary" and it becomes more like an interrogation than an interview.

Everything went really smooth, I was asked very basic questions and the officer was very understanding. They were also very kind and I even managed to make them smile, I could see it under the mask. Thank you for everything, it's time to heal.
