My fiancé was told by the CO that his K visa was approved and will receive his passport in a week . 2 weeks later the embassy asked him to come in to collect his passport and original birth certificate. He was not given any documents or explanation. Case status in ceac says “ready”. And has been updated 3 times . We have sent emails but still no answer . Anyone had this experience? We are totally confused .

For a start which Consulate?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I seriously doubt visa's are issued in a week there.

What was said when he picked up his Passport and Birth Certificate?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The person who handed him his docs had no information . When he explained to her that he was approved and given a paper to pick up his passport at the post office . Her reply was to email the consular section - she was a local maybe clerical staff I am guessing.

You will jut need to wait for the Consulate to update you, any other comment would be a guess based on no info.

If he was handed his passport back, the visa won't be issued anytime soon. They might be doing further background checks, and will ask him to bring his passport back when they are ready to issue the visa. If they held his passport, it may be a few more weeks.

Heard from them today - bad news. Consulate informed me that the consular officer reviewed his case after the interview on August 6th and was not convinced it’s a bonafide relationship. So they are sending the case back to NVC, and recommend USCIS revoke the petition.

They do not revoke, they will just let it die.
