Huh?  "suppose to get interview and passport/visa and fly out" before a particular date does not work when you are applying for a US visa.  Certainly hope you did not make nonrefundable flight bookings.

I have not bought any plane fairs as of yet, waiting for interview and to get passport and visa back. That ticket will be expensive being last minute purchase

I am in the same boat as you. With the very limited flights thee fares are VERY expensive right now. Are you planning to go there and bring her back? Or is she flying alone. Where did you email to try and get rescheduled? My wife's SLEC is expiring 8/8 and her interview was rescheduled and it was yesterday. That didn't go well either and our window is shrinking. She may end up having to do the medical again.

We emailed the link that @angeljolie had said in previous post, call me a conspiracy nut but i think they are doing this to get more money out of us and see how many of us will just say heck with it.

sorry what you may have to go through please keep in touch to keep updated.

I don't see it as a conspiracy as the US government gets no extra money by delaying it. I see it as Government. Government leaders and employees really just don't care for the most part. They have no obligation to make the customer happy like the private sector does. They feel they are working hard by inventing rules and policies that only end up making everything that you need to accomplish more difficult.

I did not get a response from our first email until I emailed them again, forwarding the auto reply that I got with case number from my first attempt. The auto reply they send comes from a no reply address that's why I forwarded it . Here is what I said in the email (which I send from my wife's email account):

Hello,

I wanted to follow up since I have not received a response. Please help me reschedule my interview before my medical expires.

Wow, I just searched the flight I took at the end of November returning in February this year (PAL: JFK-MNL-JFK) and the flight cost is 4 times now.  Almost $3K for an economy class ticket in July.  Prices are outrageous.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

The last several times I flew I went Premium Economy which is really nice. Usually about $500 extra for my round trip ticket but I felt well worth it. I was hoping to do the same when I fly there and bring my wife and 2 kids back with me. Mine would be RT and theirs 1 way. When I checked it was about 8k for all of us. Needless to say I will settle for regular economy which will be around 4k.

The interview reschedule process seems like a giant pain. Daily follow ups via call and email seem like the only option now.

For those who will be obliged to book expensive flights, here's a link to some good travel credit cards that may help offset the cost: https://thepointsguy.com/credit-cards/travel/  (I don't get any kind of compensation for the link. I just found this a useful resource).

Airfares departing from the Philippines should be no problem with fairly "normal' pricing.   Even one-way Philippines to US is reasonable.  Where the pricing gets crazy is on the flying into the Philippines component of a round trip airfare since the airlines realize it's a total crapshoot what the rules de jour may be on any particular date in the future.   The airlines realize selling tickets flying into the the Philippines is a high risk endeavor since they have know way of knowing if the future rules will even let they transport the prospective passenger.
