Has any new K1 visa holders been able to obtain a SSN?

SSA offices are closed and appointments could only be made for green card holders. We were told that K1 visa holders will need to wait for offices to reopen and no opening data is set yet.

AOS forms were already submitted but I expect it'll take a long time to get the green card as we haven't even received the first NOA.

The reason for the dire need of a SSN is that health insurance would not pay any claims until there is an assigned SSN.

Do you have a link to that?  My understanding is that a SSN is NOT required for health care coverage.

I believe that you do not need a SSN to enroll a plan or claim a visit, just ask the provider for more detail.

In my case, my wife is enrolled under my health, dental, vision plan without SSN when she got to U.S as a K-1 holder.

we updated our SSN information to Provider when I had one.

no claim or enrollment issues during the period from K-1 to Combo Card approval.

You're talking to the wrong party.

Talk to a supervisor through your Health Insurance Provider not your HR department or a low class phone agent at your HIP who won't know anything about the immigration process.
