Hello VisaJourney Family,

I am having my AOJ interview in a few weeks. What should I bring to the interview and how should I prepare?

Best, A

Hi - i just filed for my parents in January so now the journey begins! I dont see many threads for parents aos so i was wondering if you can share what your parents previous status was? What were they adjusting status from? Mine's was expired visitor.

Thank you so much.

Ohh! No it wasn't. But if you are a US citizen it is fine if you file before or after their status is expired.

It's usually not an issue for parents of US citizens as long as they were inspected when they did enter. 6 months ago. 10 years ago. It does not matter.

Hello guys! We had our interview today. Our interview went really well. The interview officer took a copy of our IDs and vaccination card. He asked us to put the new documents that we think is needed and and new. All we gave was an update on our insurance policies and our updated bank statement. After that he checked our marriage license and birth certificates and then he started the interview. The officer asked us how we met, what was the proposal like, asked me how my husband feels about his current employer. He mostly focused on the dates, like when did we moved in to our place, what was the date of our first date, date of our wedding and the likes.  He also asked the questions like are you related to security, am i related to a terrorist, groups etc. He didn't asked anything related to my overstayed visa and my work without authorization. (It was on the document that we submitted). He was also taking notes while asking. After the q&a while he was inputting data in the computer, we talked about foods and thats it. He has all the documents needed and congratulated us. Told us if my green card does not arrive in 3 weeks I should call USCIS, shout at them and demand for it. He said it in a really funny way.

Our interview was scheduled at 6:45. We arrive there at 6:05. There was a security check at the first floor. They told my husband to take his shoe off. The security also asked for an ID and the interview notice and had us answer questions about covid. After that, they instructed us to the reception. There was no line at all. The reception asked for the interview notice, after checking, she told us to go to the 2nd floor. Once we were at the holding are on the second floor, there were only a few people waiting, one couple with a lawyer, a mother and her teenage kid, a gentleman, an older lady and us. We gave the notice to the window area. The mother and the teenager were called first, next was the gentleman. They went in to the door with the security access right next to the window reception. At exactly 6:40, we were called in. But on a different door access. It was like a back door. Anyhow, we were out of the interview room at 7:35. Although the interview was not that long, we were there longer because my husband and the interview officer got engaged in to a conversation about food that they like to cook and how they cook it. lol All in all, the experience was a good one. And we were lucky to have a very nice interview officer.
