Hello everyone,

I am a US citizen living in Pakistan with my husband and son. I am also a disabled US military veteran. We have filed our cr1 back in September, 2019 but are stuck in pending security checks. In the past month, I have been really sick and am having a lot of unforseen issues in regards to my disability. I have to have surgery and choose to do so at the VA hospital in the states. It's very difficult for me to travel alone as ill as I am with my son. What are the chances my husband would get approved for an emergency travel visa to assist me? We plan to come back to Pakistan after two months. Thank you.

You can try but highly unlikely. What’s your support system in the US? Parents, siblings, other family?

Thank you for your reply. My only living relative is my mother, who is 73. My father and sister have passed away.

Sounds like you may want to reach out to veterans’ support groups near the hospital you’re going to for treatment to help you out in case your spouse doesn’t get the tourist visa.

Thank you. I've already done that. They do not offer any additional help after being discharged from the hospital. I would have to stay in a hotel alone then until I am able to travel back to Pakistan.

A lawsuit for what?  To try to force the consulate to issue a tourist visa?  Won't happen, and even if it did, it would be months and months after the urgency of the situation had resolved.

From the OP's timeline, it looks like it hasn't even been sent to the embassy yet.

That is correct. I haven't even been issued an NOA2 yet from USCIS. I was told by a lawyer to file the Writ of Mandamus but refused, at this time. I am afraid that would only end up in a denial.
