She also thinks we need to downgrade our cable plan, talk about blasphemy.

you don't NEED the porn channel

It's onDemand. Can't remove it if I wanted to. Unless I get off digital cable altogether. She wants me to dump the HBO and the movie channels. #######?

Me and my husband argue about every cent spent, mostly I argue and he tells me everything is under control.

HAHA. Sounds like me and my wife :) She thinks when I order out, we turn poor overnight. I tell her, relax... it's all under control! She also thinks we need to downgrade our cable plan, talk about blasphemy.

Sounds so familiar!

I won't even shell out for standard cable - basic all the way.... What do you think, money grows on trees!

Anton wants to dump huge loads of money onto the cards that are the highest % interest. My idea is to pay an amount over the min. amout owed, so I still have $ in my bank account in case of emergency and I still have my cards paid off each month.

A few months ago we got some furniture on credit. 0% interest for 15 months or something. My wife wanted me to spread the payments across 15 months, evenly. Makes sound financial sense. But debt .... bothers me. So one day I just sent in a check for the full amount. If I didn't tell my wife, she wouldn't even have noticed since the amount really doesn't hurt us. Point being, I don't like keeping debt that I don't need to keep. If I can afford to pay it all off, I will. She doesn't seem to mind debt as much and likes the thought of cash in the bank.

In the near future, we will be buying her a car. I want to put down about 15k, she wants me to borrow as much as they're willing to lend on a 60 month plan. Again, she wants cash in the bank and I want less debt.

I wouldn't call these "arguments", though.

We "argue" about other things. Like chores. Blech.

You sound like my hubbie! He doesn't like to make payments either. I always tell him it's important to build credit! But he just saves up, pays off and that's that.

he doesn't want debt either and even though he likes cash in the bank, it's not worth as much as no debt.

My non-professional advice: do what's right for you, don't worry about the creditors too much. They and their little credit-score-calculating formula do not exist for your financial well being. They could care less.

And FWIW, I've always avoided debt and my score is fine. Only blemishes on my report are the occassional missed payment.

money....grrr.......

What i thought was really sad was when we did our taxes and saw how much we really made last year....where the hell did all that money go? i cant figure out how we made so much yet we are barely making a dent into our debt.

Like most of you all here, me and my husband cant agree on how to pay things off. My husband is a little saver, we have a secret spot where he puts part of his check every two weeks aside. I am not a saver, well, i would like to be a saver, but my mentality right now is pay off debt! we are paying off our furniture this month (which we had the same thing like you agent, where we had 12 months no interest.....but april is the 12th month.....ike!) So we will be minus two bills since those were financed through two finance companies.

then there is the truck and my student loan and my credit cards and his credit card and our credit card........its never ending! My main concern is the credit cards. I mean, i would like to pay it all off but if i could get rid of my credit cards, i would be happy. I dont know why, but i dont really consider my student loan and the truck part of my debt......in my mind, those are just monthly bills.

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

Yeah it's a trap. They give you 12-15 months without interest. They figure enough people will "forget" about it and then get walloped with those insanely high interest rates, to make it profitable for the finance company. Does anyone really think these lenders give us these great terms because they love us and care for us and want us to have nice furniture?

We don't argue about money thank goodness, but we did have a few little moments when I was waiting for my EAD, not so much arguments, more stresses. Fortunately we don't have any credit card debt so that's lucky.

For the most part our arguments concern my husband's deployments - sometimes (especially after spedning so much time LDRing) it's a bit much to think he's going away for such a long time. Oh well.

plus, not only is it an insanely high interest rate, but ours would have had accrued interest as well......so pretty much whatever we paid would have gone back on the balance as interest anyway. Good thing im getting rid of those!

My hubby and I don't argue about anything. The only thing that remotely comes close is when we're talking about getting something to eat and he won't make a decision  Come to find out he's letting me pick all the food places, do all the things I want so that when he goes to get the new Charger he wants I won't say anything about it

Money isn't even close to being an issue with us. If we have it we have it, if we don't, we don't. My hubby has the typical Danish attitude that "everything will be ok" and I'm a worrier. So put us together and we're quite the perfect mix :P
