I was wondering how they assign AOS offices to you? I see some go much quicker than others and we would definitely be willing to travel as I'm a remote worker to get the process moving quicker, is this possible?

The local USCIS office you are assigned to is based on one's physical address.  You can see what local office your case will be assigned to by searching your zip code in the link below.  As to processing times, yes, those do vary quite a bit from office to office depending on the case load and sometimes there is some shuffling between proximate offices to help with that.

Based on your location. If you are in a area with a high immigrant population, expect a longer wait.

 

Also, a rule of thumb, try not to compare your case to others, it only leads to added stress.

And you cannot shop for local offices i.e trying to AOS from a place that is faster yet you do not stay there. USCIS is smart enough to catch you on that.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
