Me and my husband live with our inlaws in a joint family as a part of our culture like many others. My fil takes care of bills and groceries. We don't pay for any bills. But the question is do I need to submit a proof that it's his house? Although I am sending water and gas bills like one or two and they state his name on them.

You should also include a signed and dated letter from your fil stating your spouse and you live in his house.  The letter should state the date you started living their as a couple.

We live with my in laws- Do you have a diver license, car registrations, insurances, bank statements?? These will all prove that you live there. You could put a bill or two in your names if that helps. Employment contracts in your names and address?! Just some other ideas. Not sure if you will need to provide proof that your father in laws names on it. It wouldn’t prove you and your partner live there. But you could. I can’t see it being a problem either way.

I am in same situation. My case just got approved 2 weeks ago.

If I was the officer, I would question that you and your husband living there for free? It doesn't sound convincing.

Here is what I submitted regards proof of living together.

- affidavit of fil stating that relationship btw the couple and house owner,  from what date the couple moved in together, what does the couple pay, and how much is expensive, bank statement w/ living expense (bills, groceries, reduced rent)

- copy of house owner id

- last 3 months utility bills that has house owner's name on it.

- copies of rent receipt from the date the couple moved in

- pics of house owner and the couple together

*** submitting a proof of house ownership doesn't prove that the couple living together. USCIS doesn't care where the couple live. They want to see evidence of the couple living together since got married.

My husband and I lived with his parents for five months after we moved to the US after he retired from the military.   We sent an affidavit for the time we lived with them to show that we were living together continuously after we left Germany but we never included anything pertaining to them owning the house.   No RFE.

I'm from the UK, hubby is from Michigan and is a retired US Army LTC.   We are currently stationed overseas.
