I’m a bit confused about changing my category from F2B to F1 since my parents became citizens, chart B is not moving for F2B, If I switch to F1 I can start processing my case( got case number, PDAug17) although chart A is faster for F2B. What you guys think?

Are you in the US or elsewhere?

Your Question on changing filing category from F2B to F1B

I was in same situation (When I applied for my Canadian child I was a GC holder) - however, I am a US Citizen

In my humble opinion leave your F2B category alone - However, if your parent wish - they can write to USCIS telling them about their US Citizenship status - That is what I did. Trust me, they (USCIS) know everything anyways, it's just a validation.

Tough call. All matters at the end of the day when you received your visa all depends on the movement in chart A. I'd advise you wait a little just to see how they'll be moving the Final Action dates for the 2 categories in the coming months.

no outside of USA

Then I see no advantage in switching to F1 personally. Date for filing may be earlier but that doesn't actually help you anyway, you still have to wait until your PD is current on Table A to be eligible for a visa. All you'd be doing is submitting your docs earlier and then back to waiting.

If you were in the US it would be very different, but as you're doing consular processing then I'd just keep a close eye on the VB, you can always switch to F1 if it changes.

Please do fill your profile/timeline in when you get a moment to help other F2B applicants.

Good luck.

I think PI is quicker for F1 no b

otherwise you notify them but retain F2b in most cases

Obviously this can change

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I am in the US with a FRP to be honest if you are in the US with a FRP if that your case it is good  to switch to F1 and start an ajusment of status while you waiting for your GC but in my case I have to wait my petitioner is preparing the documents and it might take longer to be a f1 but I dont might I am working here and staying with my family while I am waiting for table B to move and start my ajusment of status.

😂😂 Family Reunification Parole I think, although I thought that had been scrapped under Trump and there would be no way to do AoS from it now. But I can’t keep up, maybe SCOTUS has struck that down again.

@mira8090, which country are you from?

New Update: My parents have notified USCIS of their change in citizenship status. As a result, my category has now changed to F1. I also received a notice to submit documents.

My question is: should I contact USCIS and ask to switch the category to F2B, or should I wait a few months to see how the priority date movement goes?

Thanks

What documents are they asking for? Isn’t enough with the documents sent for the F2b?
and is there any movement on the F1b’s? I mean significant movement, or we better continue waiting 4 Ever?

Good to know - However, When I informed USCIS about my US citizenship two years, they didn't change my application status from F2B to F1. I can't comment on this instance (Your case status) why they did it. I will see how it transpires in coming days. Currently Visa Bulletin shows this

Family-
Sponsored

All Chargeability
Areas Except
Those Listed

F1

08JUN16

F2A

01JAN22

F2B

22SEP16

Good Luck!

I assume they mean the NVC civil documents. Not sure what you mean F1b, but you can check the Visa Bulletin to see how it’s moving - it’s updated monthly.

@appleblossom I am originally from Ecuador

Ok. As I said, I don’t know what the latest is since the FRP program was cancelled back in Feb. I thought that the previous court decision to restart it had been overruled again but I can’t really keep up.

Even if it has been reinstated I wouldn’t rely on being able to do AOS from it, in case things change again. What’s your Priority Date?
