Hello my case is at NVC stage and currently submitting the DS260 form and civil documents. Beneficiary’s passport expires at the end of 2021, Beneficiary can’t renew his passport until June 2021(6 months before expiry). My question is should we wait until beneficiary renews his passport and submit DS260 and civil documents with new passport or can we submit the documents now, what will happen if his passport expires before his interview, Can beneficiary take the new passport at the interview. Much appreciated any information on this issue!

Send with current passport info and in the meantime work to get new passport. They will not issue a visa unless there’s at least 6 months left in the passport.

Why would he have to wait until 6 months before expiry to renew his passport?  Which country has that rule?  Almost any frequent international traveler of any nationality would run into some sort of issues if they were required to wait until 6 months before expiry to renew their passport.

Brazil has this rule. I ran into this problem last time I tried to renew my passport with more than 6 months and was told I had to wait.

Adding to this, you'll take both the new and the old passports to the interview with you.
