Hello, someone on a different forum just went to interview and was asked for 2020 tax return. Can they even ask for 2020 tax return even though the tax season has not even started yet? Also some people file late in March and even in April so can Immigration officer even ask for tax return before April 15th which is the deadline for filing Tax return?

The officer possibly just asked if they have filed 2020 taxes yet.  I'm sure it will not affect the case.

I think the officer tried to find whatever excuse, but that's weird , in my interview she didn't ask about any of the documents I have with me, till I asked her do you want the tax transcript she said ok we can keep them in the file. and I went to the interview all alone as they required due to the pandemic and even for the oath I was all alone .

Plus, the filing season hasn't started yet. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/22/your-money/irs-tax-season.html "the agency has pushed back the start of filing to Feb. 12 for returns for the tax year 2020. The shift was needed, the I.R.S. said, to allow the agency to update and test its systems to reflect late-year tax changes approved by Congress, including a second round of economic stimulus payments."

The IRS will not open until February 12, 2021.  A lot of people are not aware of this.

DQ means documentarily qualified, NVC does that once they receive your documents from USCIS.

you are getting confused with green card application. My question was regarding US citizenship. This applicant is already a green card holder.
