Basically the title.

My wife's appointment is scheduled for Jan 7th, but for reasons related to my work, it would be so much more convenient if we could get it done earlier - sometime this week or next, ideally.  I have heard of people who just show up to the appointment, even weeks earlier, and walk-in and get it done.  Is this common/ acceptable?  Should I call the office and confirm with them first if it's okay?  I would much rather wait until the designated date than go through USCIS's formal rescheduling process.

Thanks in advance!

I have seen people fail when trying to do an early walk in....due to Covid restrictions.  I would call and verify.

I see that you're based in Texas. I did my appointment in Austin and it was really quiet (5 people in the same hour). You might even do them a favor if you go early by keeping them a little busy haha.

It wouldn't hurt to try I'd say, you don't have anything to lose and you probably don't have anything else to do anyway.

Lucky cat is also right they might not accept you because of covid but if it's not much of  a road trip I'd probably try.

Thank you both for the responses.  The office is about an hour away, so I will call them to verify, since I don't want to drive too far out.  Good thoughts!

I was told that with covid you can't do walk ins when I called USCIS. YMMV.

My wife had an appointment back in August... the night before she cut her finger cutting a potato and they turned her around and made her reschedule... we FINALLY just got a notice to go in mid-Jan now. Super annoying because she probably would've had her EAD by now...

I called up and talked to several different people and pretty much everyone just told me tough luck, gotta wait.

It was common before pandemic. In my experience, they dont even let u enter the waiting area until 15min prior ur appointment.

I wouldnt bother calling since the customer service only gives one the safe and standard answers.
