My relationship w my wife is rocky right now and I was wondering if there was anyway to put the cr1 process on hold. As far as paperwork I just need to turn in my check stubs then it’s the interview. Or anyway I can change it to the other visa. The 10 year one. Thanks.

EXACTLY where is your case? Have you submitted the I-864 to NVC?  As was stated in your other thread, if you wait until the visa is issued, you will be legally bound by the Affidavit of Support.

If your I-864 or other paperwork is not submitted to NVC, you can just hold it there....for up to a year.

Thanks for responding. I’m not good w the names of the documentation. I’ll double check when I go home but the company that is doing my paperwork is requesting that I submit proof of income first and then the interview after that.

You need to find out out EXACTLY what has been submitted to NVC....and EXACT status of your case.  ...and you need to tell them that you want to stop the case.

Don't submit the w2 's they asked for,  automatically on hold /  if you want to keep case open for a year email once a month to NVC that you want to pursue but not at this time

 

and in another line to another poster,  you said you do not want her to step foot in this country.   if you are sure of that,  send a letter to cancel the CR1 and be honest and divorce her

Be aware that once NVC has scheduled the interview, your ONLY way to stop the case is by contacting the consulate directly to withdraw the case.........but you also need to realize that you have already submitted evidence of a bona fide marriage.

I’m trying to work things out. There’s a lot of cultural differences that I didn’t expect. Thanks for the reply. I won’t submit it yet. You said I can have it in hold for a year. When does that year start? If you guys are curious about the problems that we have I can tell you guys if you want to hear. Thanks again.

my letter from NVC said a year (from date????)   and it said to contact them once a month to keep case open 

this was notice from them when they sent me the notice and new case #  

i wasn't trying to put it on hold 

it was just the normal notice / read what yours says to get the right date for the year to start

We are all aware of the kinds of cultural difference which might occur.  As I said, YOU need to know the EXACT status of your case.  Has NVC requested the pay stubs?  If NVC schedules the interview, it is possibly too late to pause it......short of withdrawing at the consulate level.

They have requested the pay stubs and money for the visa.

What company is doing your paperwork? What do you mean "money for the visa"?  The AOS fee?  If the Affidavit of Support fee has not been paid, you can just hold off paying it until you want to proceed.
