Hello everyone! Soon I will be eligible to apply for naturalization and I wanted to know if me applying for an emergency aid  fund program from my community college would be considered as a public charge and therefore prevent me from getting my citizenship? I already have financial aid and I know it isn't a public charge, but not sure about the emergency aid fund. Should I apply or not? Thanks!

"Public Charge" is not a factor/consideration  in Naturalization.

Thank you! Do you know if it isn't public charge, could it be considered as anything else that would affect my chances of getting approval? Or It wouldn't influence my citizenship at all?

No it does not negatively affect your naturalization application.

Public charge is Taxpayer funded benefits. Community College fund is likely Privately funded benefits.  Not a Public Charge

Yes, that's why I said it was a separate issue and OP is likely getting confused. He/she can even apply to scholarships funded by the government as well. Many government departments, like Education, have several that are for residents or US citizens. ☺️ Government aid or pell grants are not included in public charge determinations; though higher education institutions have said that there is a lot of confusion and people might not apply thinking that they cannot.

My wife (who is the immigrant) is worried about applying for unemployment benefits.  She just lost her job due to quarantine things.  She is on good terms with the employer, but her job ended because she wasn't under contract (though she was full-time) and will mostly likely resume in the same position when this situation ends.  This discussion seems to indicate that she won't be affected when we apply for naturalization.  I wanted to let her know that I got confirmation about this (public charge). Thank you.

Unemployment benefits is an insured benefit, it is not public charge anyway. Even more irrelevant to naturalizing!
