I did update my profile with all the information I have (only file date and Embassy) - I am mailing a letter to the USCIS Ombudsman today (certified)

Your profile is not complete either. Look at the others and you will see how much information you're missing. Once it's complete then we give answers to your questions with exact information and not a guess. Each embassy is different.

Americans have the right to petition the government and that is what I am doing. Again I pay my taxes (more than the current president) and I am paying for this service - so I want to have an explanation from them about my request - we will see

Well, you can jump up and down and throw a tizzy fit but, in the end, you will be in line like the rest of have been. I don't recall USCIS ever promised you or anyone anything but a Yes or No answer to your application. BTW the current president pays his legal share of taxes. He does it like everyone else and takes the deduction and such not. If you had his business's you would do the same. You do take deductions to lower your income tax when you take a tax deduction for child, mortgage etc. It's just not as large or cumbersome as the President.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

Just to be clear - I am not desperate not having a fit - I just want to know my application is being processed. On a separate note, you seem to picture USCIS or the Government in general as this omnipresent force that decides our fate and will give me a yes or no - again to be clear - I have the right to marry the person I chose and I am most asking any favors - the State has to attend my request as long we qualify and are people of integrity. If there are no issues to national security or impediments by law the State needs to grand my request. This is a government for the people and by the people - anyone working in the government works for the public and they get paid and financed by the tax dollars. I am not going to enter into politics nor follow tax battles regarding the exiting president. As for my profile, it is updated on Visa Journey - I am not going to join any other groups or provide information outside this channel. Piece to you brother!

Been here and heard that speech but in the end the line moved forward, and the applicants had their turn. Your turn in due course will come. Just how it's done. Good luck and stay engaged.

Looks like they received my paperwork and it shows a date of September 30 but I didn't receive NOA1 until October 5 so I'll consider myself in this subforum boat!! I'm happy to be two months in though I can't complain as I live abroad with my fiance!! I can't imagine you all that are apart!!!! Hoping things go smoothly and rapidly for those apart!

USCIS is funded through the fees they charge and they receive nothing from your tax dollars.Just keeping it real.

On September 30, 2020 the President signed H.R. 8337 the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act, which will fund the government through December 11, 2020. Included in the Act is language from the Emergency Stopgap USCIS Stabilization Act (H.R. 8089), which seeks to address USCIS’s budget shortfall. The relevant language begins on page 30 of the Act. Please note that while the law takes effect immediately, the increased fees and expanded availability of premium processing will not take effect until USCIS is able to implement them

Please note that while the law takes effect immediately, the increased fees and expanded availability of premium processing will not take effect until USCIS is able to implement them

Further to your explanation above if you read closely it states that USCIS is authorized to increase the fees as a stopgap to the shortage. Still no taxes have been used to fund USCIS. I quote the following from your link where it states:

On August 22, 2020, Representatives Lofgren (D-CA), Nadler (D-NY), Fortenberry (R-NE), Cleaver (D-MO), Buck (R-CO), Welch (D-VT), and Raskin (D-MD) introduced the Emergency Stopgap USCIS Stabilization Act (H.R. 8089). The bill seeks to temporarily prevent the need for USCIS furloughs by immediately increasing USCIS premium processing revenues.

Further details in the meaning of this stopgap I refer you to lines 7-15 for a further explanation. No taxes are used but fees.

Hey I'm curious, did they actually cash your check? I figure mine must be coming soon. I'm just surprised I didn't see it this week.

No - nothing yet not even the check has been cashed. The inquiry letter I sent to the USCIS Ombudsman, my Senator, Congressmen and the copy I sent to the lockbox were all received .....
