Hello,

My mom is in the process to apply for her green card and she DQ'ed in March 2020. It still says that her info is at NVC. I  was wondering if anyone has had an IR 5 interview since March or has an appointment scheduled? If so, how long did it take after being DQ'ed?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, IR-5 visas have been suspended until next year, at the earliest.  She will not receive an interview until early next year at the earliest.....maybe even longer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for the response! Well that is a real bummer! Not sure why they would consider a parent a threat to the labor force!?

There are plenty of people whose parents are in their 40's and have decades they can work.

I think that restricting folks that want to come here legally compared to the do-nothing approach to illegal immigration is a pretty ridiculous! From a number of people perspective between legal/illegal migration we are not even in the same galaxy in regards to the threats to the labor force!!

So I respectfully disagree with both the current administration and your statement!

The restriction wasn't instituted until the current pandemic had already caused the loss of millions and millions of jobs.  The restriction wasn't instituted to protect those who are here illegally.  It was instituted to allow those people who have lost their jobs to regain employment.

But much younger spouses will not grab jobs. LOL. How ridiculous and racist this government can be

Only spouses of citizens do not work apparently , as spouses and minor children of permanent residents are also banned. Yes, those pesky 6 year olds trying to take jobs!

No question that you are correct with the job losses but it does not address the issue I have with the current rule(s). There are a thousands of illegals coming into this country that will compete with the lower income Americans looking for jobs by a much larger number than a legal immigrant will/would impact the job market. Not to mention that IR1 Visas are being processed which are much younger folks (statistically) that will compete in the job market.  So the instead of putting resources to that problem, the government stops legal immigration which takes funding away from USCIS (this agency is one of the few that actually funds itself) which in turn has to furlough 60% of its employees. Just seems backwards to me.

If it’s only a temporary ban then I can understand the good motives behind it, but when we were told about another possible executive order that will put an indefinite pause on family-based migration for parents and siblings of usc, then the motives behind all of that become very clear and quite opposite of what was initially said.

P.S. I’m following the latest developments since I filed for my mom. It’s getting close to 2 years now (pd date Jan 2019).

What do you mean by PD date?

Sorry to hear that it has taken so long! That just stinks!

Definitely have delays

According to this website's Amsterdam embassy section somebody DQ'ed in May 2020 and just completed their interview on 8/4/20 for a IR1. Does not look like a delay to me, just sayin!

Wow, one instance does not a trend make nor proves one's hypothesis.

YMMV
