I wonder, is there any chance that the fees will go down if by some miracle USCIS accepts DACA again?

No chance. The fee changes take into account DACA EAD filing and I-821D filing for DACA renewal: https://s3.amazonaws.com/public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2020-16389.pdf

I could understand it if they used that money to bring offices like Seattle up to speed with the rest of the country. There are N-400 filers in Seattle who are still waiting, having filed in 2018. I have been following the time line of a fellow countrywoman from the UK who filed in an east coast location one month before me. She became a citizen a whole year before I am expected to become a citizen (according to the estimate on my USCIS online account - she was naturalized in January this year, mine is estimated for January next year). Despite filing in September 2019 I won’t be a citizen in time for the November 2020 election. But people who filed in February this year are already citizens in some offices. That’s grossly unfair. I can’t vote this year purely because USCIS Seattle is so far behind - and it’s not because of COVID-19. People have been waiting since 2018, long before COVID was known.

This feels like me, applied August 2019 and naturalized January 2020.

I find the different wait times across the country crazy, how can Charlotte take just 4 months and other offices take over a year? we all pay the same fee, are subject to the same scrutiny etc

I don't think that geography should have such a big impact on the timeline, doesn't feel fair and takes some of the happy away from reaching the end of our journey when others who applied at the same time have no real end in sight :(

Couldn't they increase the staffing at the busiest offices or?

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Colombia
Timeline

I feel for everyone who is still in the middle of immigration processes. These are very stiff increases on the most common immigration applications, i.e. AOC, ROC and Citizenship. The decision between marriage or fiancee visa is now heavily weighted towards marriage. I agree with others that the steep price of N400 is not really fair with the huge variations in pending times across the US in different offices.

Marriage: 2014-02-23 - Colombia    ROC interview/completed: 2018-08-16 - Albuquerque
