EAD/Social Security Confusion

I got my SSN before I was married to my husband through the K1 visa process. So my social security card has my maiden name on it and says I'm not allowed to work. I now have my EAD which is in my married name and obviously allows me to work.

Is this contradiction of information going to cause any issues with me getting a job? Or will I have to get the SSN card amended first?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Reread what the SSN card says.

It should say "valid for work only with DHS authorization "

YMMV

It does say that. So even with my maiden name on there for the time being, it shouldn't cause any problems cause I have my EAD

Shouldn't have any problems as work authorization.

When my wife was trying to get a driver's license in CA, she needed a card in the same name she wanted to get her license in (fortunately we were able to get her card updated, because this was last year, though due to some patronymic-related issues we needed to argue with the SSA person a  bit; not likely an issue with someone from the UK, though)

Awesome. Thank you for your help!

Yeah, I'll be getting a driver's permit/licence eventually but I can't change my name on the SS card until their offices are open again. They will only allow mailed in changes with original copies right now. Thanks again!

Why not mail it in with the original copies?  They will be returned to you if you ask.
