Based from some users who I was grouped with on I-751, they said it’s okay to file your N-400 when you’re already eligible but it will remain pending until you get your approval for I-751.

As for the filing, I find electronic more convenient and faster than the paper, not to mention the the availability of information in your account as soon as you file it.

I would send copy of greencard and the extension letter.

Thank you, PinkCady! Do we have to pay the biometrics which is $85 when filing the N-400?

I filed Aug 1st. So I have been waiting exactly a month for my biometrics appointment.

My receipt was generated the same day I filed. It was available in the web portal the following day. I received it in the mail about a week later.

Having said that, my field office is Portland, OR. So my guess is that the riots are slowing things down here??

Has anyone received their biometrics appointment yet? How did you file (online/paper)? what's your field office?

I filed online on Aug 2nd. I'm in San Jose, CA.

Estimated completion time is showing April 2021 (7 months).

I filed yesterday with my ROC still pending, included a letter requesting a combo interview. Not sure if the cover letter is just going to get buried in all the other evidence. I also forgot to upload my auto insurance documents, but thankfull the webstie lets you upload things after submitting. Definitely a smoother experience compared to AOS or ROC so far.

Estimate says May 2021 (8 months). Are these estimates accurate at all?

Despite my N400 window opening on 8/29/20 (LPR granted 11/29/17) - the system wouldn't let me submit my application before 8/31/20. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

The early filing window opens 90 days and not 3 months . So it is 2 days shorter.

Hi fellow August 2020 filers, congrats on applications. We applied 8/30, estimated completion in September 2021 (San Francisco field office). Awaiting background check already, hoping to get biometrics date soon. Based on the VJ timeline stats, it looks like the SF field office was completing at around 10 months average, but after covid, it looks like it's completing at 12 months. So be it.

We also have a pending 751 (already pending 1 year). We're hoping that the 751 might speed up the N400 processing. I've searched in past threads for cases of this, but it's hard to find a concrete average without going through all the timeline stats. I've noticed a few people mention they added a letter requesting combo-interview for 751 and N400. Does anybody else recommend including this? I believe we can still upload documents after submission.

Edit: also, it's really fun to see a few the names of my fellow K1-visa filers from my same month and year in this thread. :)

Finally filed mine in on 8/29 - moved here in August 2011 on K-1, just never got around to naturalizing. Response on USCIS website says doing background checks etc and 13 months estimation, so I may need to to look at renewing my green card if that rings true (expires Nov 2021).

Salt Lake City (SLC) office, if that makes a difference.

I think if you filed n400 6 months before your green card expired, you don’t have to renew your green card.

Checking In on my account and processing time is back to April estimate after a couple of days in May.  🤞
