Hi all,

I'd like to travel to Belarus at the end of July and am wondering which airlines are serious and don't cancel flights?

I heard Turkish Airlines (SFO/LAX > Istanbul > Minsk) and Qatar Airlines (LAX > Emirates > Istanbul > Minsk) is reliable.

Any advice? I had 4 flights canceled in the past 4 months, and really am tired of it.

Have you considered flying to some European country and then just taking a train to Minsk? I know it's more roundabout but perhaps it is an option.

I have not. How realistic is that and how long would this take?

I'm not familiar with travel to Belarus, but I've gone the flight to Europe > train to Russian route before and it was very easy and painless.

On the other hand, I have no idea what is going on with train travel between countries and Covid-19. I have no idea if there are quarantines or other measures in place which might make it impossible. There are trains to Minsk from Moscow, Kiev and Vilnius. Best to check in on the routes and see what is going on with Covid-19.

Travel to Europe is not really an option at the moment. Not sure if transfer is still accepted but traveling via land probably not.

I don’t have advise regarding these specific routes, but a more generic tip based on my own adventure making it to my husbands country during the pandemic :)

I picked a couple of flight routes based on travel restrictions in transfer countries, wrote down the flight numbers (most recurring scheduled flights have the same number) and monitored those flights for approx. 2 weeks on google for on-time departures and arrivals. For airlines/routes that are not supported by google, you can check the departure/arrival info of the airports.

This gave me some confidence for planning - however, I still ended up booking very last minute just in case :)

@Quarknase this is a good idea and I will be looking into this. at the moment, I see three potential flights from LAX to an airport that connects to Minsk.

Thank you!

British airways fly from jfk to London, then Finnair London to Helsinki, then Belavia Helsinki  to Minsk.

Know that for a fact.

I'm currently looking into Los Angeles > Amsterdam > Minsk. It seems like Los Angeles > Amsterdam is very stable. I'm not seeing any cancelations in the past 3 or so days, and I called KLM and asked them about it, they say it's been pretty stable, no issues. The only thing is when flying to Amsterdam you have to download a Health form online and fill it out.

Sounds doable!  Good luck!
