Can I set up my account before I get the “welcome letter”? So far I have nothing in the mail or email but NVC emailed me back with the case and invoice number. Do I need to request this welcome letter via email? I’ve heard of some people never getting a welcome letter. Is that common? Thanks

All your questions are covered in the PDF. First entry is what to do next.  Follow what you can based on the environment. You need your embassy's P3 letter which will explain whether a welcome letter is needed which btw comes from the embassy.

Awesome thank you; do you by chance have a copy of Sarajevo embassy's P3?

All I have is this https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ba/niv/information/required_docs which should be a good start. Also read what is here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Bosnia-Herzegovina&cty=Sarajevo.

If you get a copy of the P3 letter and would like to share it with me, I use it to help others after you are well on your way. Just PM me here on VJ when you have a copy.

I did the same thing when i saw you posted this. I got their reply today, they gave me my case number, but no invoice number too. Just kinda disappointed because they also mentioned in the email that routine visa services at US Embassy in Manila is suspended, so they will not forward K1 visas yet until they resume routine services. Oh well. Thanks for this tip tho!

The NVC finally received my application!  I'm now joining the rest of you waiting for NVC approval and then the embassies to begin working again 😅

Also some goods news for everyone (if you haven't seen it yet), it looks like once embassies start operating again they will be authorized to prioritize K-1 visas!  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/important-notice-for-k-visa-applicants-affected-by-covid-19.html

Got my NOA2 early july but still waiting for the NVC case number ugh, making me so worried

Get the PDF from the link on the first Pfaff of this thread, first post.   It tells you every step and what to do.  I bet your case number has been assigned but since your case hasn't been sent to your embassy they will no notify you tim its sent. Says so in the PDF.

@greenbaum my fiance completed his ds-160 yesterday and I've been told to pay the fees through the portal however when I called the embassy hotline they told me to wait for a paper? However when I had sent the email earlier that day (before I realized they have a hotline) I got an email back this morning telling me to follow the instructions on the site. I've been told that we are going through ''immigrant'' applications on the site even though it is technically a non-immigrant application, is that correct? These are the options that I get when I log in.. do I select the first one or do I need to wait for the paper?

The 3rd one.

Okay! Can I still do that despite not receiving the packet yet? Do people do that? And the “paper” they referred to means the packet 3 I’m assuming? (I already know what’s in it thanks to you sending me a copy 😉) Sorry for the loaded question and thanks in advance.

Each embassy is different. Some will allow you to do it and others require you to take certain steps. I can't keep track of all the embassies and who does what when but that is why there is two good tools for you to use and one is the P3 that I sent you. What does it say are the steps to the interview? Then second is the sub-forum for your region or country. Where you can ask others from your country.  Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about 3/4 of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.
