Passport about to expire.

Hi, my passport is about to expire on May 2021. Given the processing times and the current pandemic im not sure if I could leave before December 2020. My concern is im about to send documents to NVC this upcoming weeks depending on when I can finish all the docs. so my question is do I change my passport now before sending it to NVC? or do I wait for them to stamp my visa on my current passport and apply for a new one, once I have it? And if im going to renew my passport now should I change to my married name or is it ok to keep my maiden name? I have used my maiden name during application to USCIS since my passport then is still my maiden name. I am not worried if I change it, it may cause a dispute on my end. and if i dont change it maybe they would question me about it? (although im pretty sure its legal everywhere to keep their maiden name even if they are married)

Renew when you want to or need to.  Names are not a concern

but the website says what documents you provide will be where ur visa will be stamped wouldnt that conflict?

Why are you worrying about a passport that still has a year of validity?  Get your visa, travel to the US. Visit a Filipino consulate that has control over your area. Submit your passport renewal. Wait for it to be completed and returned to you. Easy Peasy. This is much ado about nothing.

You can change your passport anytime in the process.   We started with one in Mary's maiden name and miraculously received a new one in her married name in about a week when she did the renewal in Mexico City.  She took both to the consulate.   ASC and medical used her old one and the consulate officier changed it to the new one during the interview.   Absolutely no problem!  Saves the $$$ cost of doing a I-90 to get a new one.

No my passport dont have a year validity anymore it is less than a year... my point here is that theres a requirement to use passport that has a 6months validity upon travelling... we are currently in process of sending my documents to NVC and that may require 2-3 months of processing... after that theres a month or less before US embassy stamped my passport... it would leave me atleast a 7month timeline in my passport... i still have a job and I dont think I can leave with all the things i needed to do in a month so theres a risk that I may have to renew before flying but my problem is if my visa is stamped on the old one... if i dont renew and use my current passport i may have issues travelling either manila immigration or us immigration. I hope this clears why im having my concern.

Your response here has given you your own answer. Get it renewed and be done with it.

You need 6 months validity at interview because the visa has 6 months (generally from medical date.)

If you want your green card in married name, change your passport before interview.  Green card in visa name, visa in passport name.   Bring both passports to interview if you've already completed the DS-260.  The name isnt an issue.

For an immigrant VISA all that is required to ENTER the US is the PASSPORT is currently unexpired and the VISA has not expired.

im sorry but you are really not being clear.. i dont see how my statements above are giving answer when in fact im stating the conflict
