Congratulations to you! Can you clarify if you are the beneficiary or the petitioner? I had read the marriage visa process is normally longer than K1 (up to 10mo or more) so which parts of the process were you able to get expedited?

I'm the petitioner for the K-1.  The marriage visa is a longer process, however it's the best option for us now.  So I will be starting over.

The process of getting a UK Marriage Visa to get married, but not live in the UK was very quick and even though I could not get the expedited process, the regular process only took 15 days.  Now that I have the UK Marriage Visa, I'm heading over there to get married and after that will start the marriage Visa (CR-1) process for my husband!

Important Notice for K visa applicants affected by COVID-19

Last Updated: August 31, 2020

Posts will resume K visa application processing as local conditions and resources allow. Applicants should check the website of their nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for updates on what services that post is currently able to offer. The I-129 Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) is typically valid for four months; however, consular officers may revalidate the I-129 petition in four month increments.  For most cases impacted by the suspension of routine visa services or COVID-19 travel restrictions it will not be necessary to file a new I-129 petition.

Hi, can you provide a little more context here? Was this specific to one embassy? Thanks so much!

This was released by the State Department and has since been removed from their website. It isn't news really. Basically they saying K1 visa services will resume as local country conditions allow. This has been the case since March.

I beg to differ. The below information has never been in any updates from March - yesterday. This is a step in the right direction for everyone.

Quote

"posts are authorized to give K visa cases high priority"

Montreal are now officially reviewing K1 visas again, as of yesterday. I count that as a win!

This is the original source for anyone curious: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/important-notice-for-k-visa-applicants-affected-by-covid-19.html

Any positive news for other K1 applicants is a step in the right direction. I hope all of our own embassies follow. All the best.

It's actually back on the DOS website. Contrary to your opine the K-1's are being given more priority then what we have seen through this pandemic. Good news for those who are waiting. Good luck and stay engaged.

Yes. But it's still up to each consulate to decide when to start those services. Countries like the Philippines who have been on lockdown since March and have imposed domestic and international travel bans off and on will probably be one of the last to process anything.

Hello @Greenbaum we have completed the DS 160, and received the "AA#" as per the PDF you graciously provided, thanks.

When we try to track our case, the website says we need to fill out a DS 160. Has this happened before? Or, could this be as a result of Montreal just starting to reopen K1 visas?  Thoughts? We just don't want to miss a critical step.

Got the email that our case left the NVC today and is now on its way to NZ! Maybe there’s a chance my fiancé will be here by the end of 2020 after all? Fingers crossed!

Others have reported the same. If you have completed the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application and have a confirmation page with a bar code then ignore the "Summary Information" that you saw. All things are fine for you to proceed when the next steps are available to you to complete.

Does anyone how soon you can get an appointment for a medical in London?

Best place to find that answer is the sub-forum for the UK. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about 3/4 of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.

Great news! Does anybody know if the NVC continues to follow the every other Tuesday / Wednesday shipping schedule? The Georgian embassy is now accepting K1 visas so I think that's another good sign that countries that have limited visa services will open up to K1 soon

My petition seems to be in administrative processing at NVC and has been there since June 16. One day after it arrived at the NVC. When I put my case number in the tracker it says "At NVC". Is this a normal step in the process or is something wrong? I can't find information anywhere on administrative processing at the NVC.

I speak to this in the PDF. Get yourself a copy from the first post on this thread. I believe it's #9.

I was just looking through the PDF but it looked like the only thing I could find was information about adminstrative processing in regards to the embassy stage. This is scary! I should have no red flags and I filled out everything perfectly
