The process is the same as listed on my website with small variations; >SLEC does medicals by appt only right now, CFO is only online  ...    Few links are dead sadly, but I will get that updated

 

Once status shows READY, 1) pay your visa fee 2) create your profile (wait 24 hrs after paying visa fee, not counting weekends, before scheduling interview),  3) gather required documents (hopefully you started this already), 4) complete medical, 5) attend interview, 6) after receiving the visa then complete CFO online

What's the difference between the DS-160 and the visa fee as you describe above?

DS-160 is the actual visa application form (online).  Visa fee is paying the required fee for the K-1 visa application
