Green Card and SSN

Quick one, how long did CR1 / IR1 visa holders wait until they received their green cards after emigrating?

 

Also any idea where I can track these things? I'm in Denver Colorado from the UK

My wife received her Social Security card 11 days after entering the US.  Her Green Card arrived 2 weeks later (2017)

Thank you. I tried calling SSN today in their hours (current COVID ones) and they are still closed. Been here three weeks no sign of either.

Meant to ask, was the SSN received by normal mail? Was Green Card by Courier?

Hey Jenny, I came April 26th as well. Still nothing in the mail for either one. Corona will slow the process this year

I entered the US on March 20th, received Greencard 3 weeks later and now as per May 19th, am still waiting for SSN card.

Called SSA online and they said to wait for 4-6 weeks after receiving GC.

Wondering if I need to apply for SSN directly to the SSA office here even I already clicked YES for SSN on the DS 260 form at the visa interview.

 

Btw, Greencard was mailed by the USPS.

Both were via normal USPS.

Hello,

 

I entered March 8th and still haven’t received a green card but I got my SSN within 3 weeks. 
Is Corona delaying it this year? Does anyone know if I can call anyone to track where green card is?

If you paid the USCIS Immigrant Fee before entering the US then it can take up to 120 days after entering: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/expect-green-card

You'll have to wait until the 120 days pass to submit an out of processing times inquiry.

Both USPS. SSN normal mail. Green Card has USPS tracking.

Thanks All, I'll contact the SSA today, I'm working but am still being paid by my UK company (UK-US company I transferred), so I wanted to minimise the time as obviously there may be tax implications - I understand I probably will end up paying something to the IRS but that's fine ( on filing). Luckily my Sister in Law works for a tax accountant.

 

I'm assuming COVID is slowing the process right now. Boo

Apparently the custom officer forgot to file my POE info to the SSN Department as it's a different database from USCIS, and I need to go to SSN office to register again which dont have a clear date to reopen so far. I entered US on 27 Mar, still yet to receive the green card.

Same thing happened to Mary.  It was quick once we had the Green Card and went to the SSA office.
