UGH.... Went through and did the DS-160 form, and paid the fees on ustraveldocs - all done... when I paid the fees for the visa I double checked everything and all was ok, evidently either I missed something or the system had an issue, but my passport where there should be a 0 has a 9.  This is ONLY on the US Travel Docs site, and on the confirmation page so I'm HOPING that will be an easy 'update' on their system as I certainly had a look and the passport number cannot be changed... I would hope that as long as it's right everywhere else, and the fee is paid, all will be ok.

I've hit the 'provide feedback' button and also emailed the Australian support email address so hope that I'll hear back in the first few days of next week.

Here's to hoping I can get them to request the paperwork out of the NVC and onto the DHL shipping and get myself an appointment... we will see!!

I'm confused as there is no fee for the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application so how is it you paid a fee? Did you not pay twice because you go on to say you paid the visa fee? Confusing.

Don't expect your case to be moved ahead as you must have a case that has been singled out as a expedited case. Is this true in your case?

There is an MRV Fee of USD$265 to pay for visa processing. It is on the ustravel docs website where you create the account and pay.

I am well aware of the MRV fee for the interview, but my question was why did you pay two fees which is what you said? There isn't a fee for the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application only the MRV fee for the interview.

I did not. I’m sorry. It’s probably worded poorly on my part.

I filled out the DS160. That was all ok, no dramas, no timeouts.

THEN when I went to ustraveldocs and went through that part of the process that is when I noted the error. ONLY on the MRV receipt where my passport number is located, and also in my USTraveldocs account as well. I’ve sent them an email/online request so I guess I’ll see what they come back with.

I wanted to clear this up as there so many more who will read your post and walk away thinking the have two fees to pay when in reality the only have the MRV fee for the interview.

Re-reading my post I didn't actually say I paid 2 fees.  However I can't edit the post to make it clearer.

"Went through and did the DS-160 form, and paid the fees on ustraveldocs - all done"

This is 2 separate items separated by a comma...  I should have added 'and then paid the MRV fees on ustraveldocs'.  Are you able to change that so it is clearer?

Anyway...back to my actual conundrum.  It seems I'm not the only one who has done this, and it also seems based on reading various reports online that the email I have sent should clear it up. They'll either ask me to email them a scan of the first page of my passport, or they will tell me to notify my consular officer at the time of the interview.

It does certainly feel a lot more real now that I have my DS160 done and the MRV receipt all printed out. :). Fiancee sending me the i134 and all supporting documents, and a couple of originals I will need for the interview.  Just gotta get an interview!! 🤪

Thankfully got a follow up from my 'online inquiry' today:

Quote

Dear Mr. *****,

Thank you for your email.

We can confirm that your K-1 visa fee was associated with your profile and the incorrect passport number will not cause any further problems.

We have yet to receive your file from the NVC.

In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State has temporarily suspended routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates. We will continue to provide emergency and mission-critical visa services as resources and local conditions allow. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. Please see these notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

It is unknown at this time when our office will be able to start rescheduling appointments again. We continue to follow the advice of both the Australian and U.S. governments in relation to COVID-19. Our office will be in contact with applicants by email notification with a new appointment as soon as we are permitted to start seeing applicants again.

If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please contact our office at support-australia@ustraveldocs.com

Kind regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit (MER)
U.S. Consulate General, Sydney

Even though the portal does say that if the passport number needs to be updated to use the same facility that I used to send that inquiry, at least I have it in writing that I can print out and take with me just in case. :)

That's one 'weight' off my shoulders..... now just waiting on the reply from the Consulate to see if they will request the file from the NVC.  I sent an email on the same day.  Fingers crossed.

Many have requested "what's next" list of items to do and in what order.
•    Sign up for e-mail from NVC (1 )
•    Begin calling NVC after five weeks from N0A2 approval (2)
•    Once you have your case number, you can complete the DS-160 (14 & 15)
•    Contact Greenbaum to see if he has a copy of your Embassy's P3
•    Some of you can pay for your interview and schedule, BUT you must be sure that your Embassy allows this. Some do, and some don't.
•    Check your case on CEAC (8)
•    Check the shipping scheduling for your case file to be shipped. (9)
•    Use the DHL hack to watch your case heading to your Embassy (9)
•    Once your case arrives at the Embassy, and your case is set to the "ready" condition, you can schedule your medical and interview.
•    It's time to move over to your country/regional forum here on VJ to ask more specific questions concerning the steps needed to take once your case is at the Embassy. (17)

Don't do any scheduling in advance until the case is ready at embassy and the embassy sends you an email to the petitioner to follow these steps for Scheduling interview, Medical exam, police clearance etc.  Usually takes about 2 months to receive.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

No form. Get your local one and if you lived in another country for more then 6 months from the age 16 you'll need one from each of those countries. But, some will not issue one if you are not in country to receive it.

Use this link to see what is required to get the Police Clearance for any country that you have lived in since the age of 16 more than 6 months.
