The US & Canada are preparing to issue a joint statement in the next 24-48 hours to suspend non-essential travel between the two countries, an administration official tells me. The restrictions will ensure trade & business between the two countries can continue. 1/2. - Developing news

Source?

Any idea whether this would stop me from activating my CR1 visa at the border?

no one knows what the conditions will be ? if they waive US citizen spouse, you can enter but if they say no entry for anyone like how canada said no entry for US citizens  today than its a U TURN.

Disclaimer in my opinion : they will close movement both ways. US citizens cant enter Canada and Canadians cannot enter USA.

Yeah this is crazy and rough timing for me. I have some work shifts this weekend.

I just received the notification that my visa was issued and my passport is being mailed to me earlier today. Usually these border closing seem to have a period of time before it actually closes. If so, I may just drive to the border, activate my visa, then return to Canada before moving down in a week or so.

The CNN article states that it is likely more "flexible". Hopefully it is at least similar to the EU ban which allowed for spouses of US citizens.

Hello All,

Has anyone with US Conditional Green Card status, had any trouble crossing the border?

I am a Canadian Citizen with US Conditional Green Card.
I intend to visit Canada on Friday, 27th  to visit Family (from a safe distance).

Knowing Canada requires 14th day quarantine upon arrival in Canada, Would I be allowed to get back into U.S. on Monday, 30th? .

What should I say at both Canadian and American borders.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The quarantine is now mandatory and does not allow you any visitors (even from a safe distance) during the 14 day period. Please just stay home.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.
