  1. "How long do you think? Also, what would the questioning be like? (Also, what can the officer do if you refuse to answer? De-naturalize you on the spot?)" When you answered my question with questions of your own. That threw me off. I am still active system administrator/auditor. I expect and appreciate straight answers to questions. Again thanks for your inputs.
  2. Harry St. Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry, but I dont understand the sarcasm in your comment "abandoning". I am NOT abandoning the country. https://www.businesstoday.in/technology/news/story/layoff-tsunami-2023-tech-companies-laid-off-226000-employees-to-date-40-more-than-in-2022-394245-2023-08-16 I will rather have a roof over my head, rather than living on the streets. Just looking for honest feedback. Again, thanks for your input.
  3. Hello All, I finally got my PPT after successful intervention by my Congressman. Thankful to all who have helped me in this journey which started with TN visa. However,I lost my job with the massive layoffs in the IT industry, I had to move out of my home in US because I ran out of rent/mortgage fund. So I had to return to Canada as I have somewhere there I can live untill I fnd a new gig in US. Question - how long can new USC live outside of US without questioning on return to home(US)?
  4. Hello All, I applied for passport at a Passport Office in Post Office in my town, and State Dept. received application on 06/05/2023. But then I had to move temporarily while the passport application was processing. Because I don't have a relative nearby I forwarded all my mails to rental box via USPS. In addition, on 06/19/2023 I also did a change of address with State Department by calling 1-877-487-2778 as follow: To: CA-PPT-HQCallCenter@state.gov 1. Applicant's Name (First, Middle, Last): My name 2. Relationship of Person Submitting Form (Self or Minor Child): SELF 3. Locator Number (If Known):00000000 (known) 4. Date of Birth: XX/XX/XXXX 5. Contact Phone Number: XXXXXXXXXX 6. Email Address: XXXXXXX@GMAIL.COM 7. Previous Address Given on Application (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code): XXXXXXXXXX, WA 9XXXX. 8. New Address (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, and In Care Of, if Applicable): PASSPORT OFFICE XXX MYTOWN AVE, MYT, WA 9XXXX (USPS OFFICE). Question: How can I confirm address change with State Department system? Can State Department forward passport to USPS PASSPORT OFFICE in my town's USPS office? Thanks for your attention in advance.
  5. Following up on this thread. Does address change/mail forwarding to USPS office also work? That is, I applied for passport at a Passport Office in Post Office in my town, and State Dept. received application on 06/05/2023. Question: How can I confirm address change with State Department system? Can State Department forward passport to USPS PASSPORT OFFICE in my town's USPS office? Thanks for your attention in advance.
  6. Hello, I recently moved after applying for Passport with my old address. Temporarily staying with family friend. I have forwarded my mails to my new address, at USPS, to commercial private mail box. Question, will my passport be forwarded by USPS to my commercial private mail box?
  7. Please note that the Oath has not be taken yet. Just wondering about emergency re-entry options after oath is taken.
  8. Hello, If one takes U.S. Citizenship Oath, and apply for U.S. Passport the same day. However, if one travels to Canada on emergency event before receiving US passport, can one return to US with Canadian passport and I551stamp on Canadian passport?
  9. Please see reply below: Seems like you filed I-751 in 2019 based on abuse, although not clear if you filed it after the divorce was final. What made you decide to file for abuse? The 1-551 was filed before divorce was final. Both boxes was completed for the basis for waiver - suffered abuse and separated. I also added radiologist report, and Psychologist report. Did you attend the June 2022 combo interview alone or w your attorney? Alone. What type of questions did they ask ( exact wording) at the interview? The officer asked me to talk about the abuse, but I was too traumatized to explain fully. After about 2 minutes of talking, I noticed my body quiver, and I held my suitcase to my chest. After that, I politely directed the officer to the supplemental notes and evidences in my case. Why did you wait 4 months ( June to end of October) to respond to RFE? Lawyer explained that she wanted to take advantage of the CORVID extension to file a comprehensive response to the RFE. The response include additional evidence of Joint company I founded together with my ex and me being the director of the company. The lawyer also included the email my ex sent me informing me the success of the organization application, and which restaurant I would like to go that night to celebrate success of the new company. Additional notarized letter of support from a family friend who was a witness to the marriage. When you send in supplemental evidence make sure you include both abuse and additional bonafide items. Thanks for this additional inputs. CanadaEx
  10. Thank you Stein, for your inputs. Please note it is a bit confusing, and further clarification from all will be highly appreciated. The current expiration date on my Green Card is Dec 2019. However, as I mentioned above I have been getting I-551 stamp in my Passport since 2019, and the latest one I got at the Settle Field office expires in Feb 2024. If I go with the Stein's suggestion above, does my Green Card expires in ( Dec, 2019 + 48 months) Dec 2023? or current stamp on Passport - Feb 2024 ? Meanwhile, I-751 and N400 are still pending decision. Also note that I understand that decision on N400 will not be made until I-751decision is made. Regards, CanadaEx
  11. Hello All, Thanks for the inputs @Family. Please note I just received a notice in the mail that USCIS extended the validity period on my Form I-551 for 48 months from date of expiration. This notice came from Lee's Summit's Office. Additional information of my case: Arrived in US on TN Visa in 2014. Married to a USC in 2016, and got conditional GC form I-551in 2017. Divorced from USC was finalized in 2019 from USC due to abuse. Applied for I-751 in 2019. In addition, I filed for N400 via VAWA with the Lee's Summit Office since 2020 with reports from medical specialists. Meanwhile, I have been getting I-551 stamp every year since expiration of original I-551 in 2019 . The latest extension I got was in Feb. 2023 to expire in 2024. I am about to file additional documents attesting to lingering effects of abuse, in addition, to my original VAWA because, ex wife went to Canada, from Oregon, to "visit me" in the house that I often go, with her, to visit my kids from previous marriage. Upon learning she visited, I obtained a police record of this "visit". As the visit brought back emotional trauma which I though I have dealt with in previous therapy. But today, I got an extension on my Form I-551. Please note that in June 2022, I was invited and attended a combo meeting at the Seattle Field office, as I now reside in Seattle, and I was giving a citizen test at the end of the interview, which I passed. After the the interview, UCIS asked me for more information with regards to the divorce in the I-751 case. My lawyer replied the RFE in October 2022. Question, bearing in mind that in Seattle office, I just received additional extension on my Form I-551 in Feb. 2023 to expire in 2024, does this 48 months extension from Lee's Summit office represents removal of conditions on my Green Card? Also, on the second page of the approval notice, it says, "Note: Conditional permanent residents(including conditional permanent resident depends) residing overseas pursuant to military or government order will not receive an ASC appointment notice.". Thanks for your inputs, CanadaEx.
  12. Thanks OldUser for the link it was very helpful. With regards to seeking help for lingering aftermath, I believe I legitimately need it. The reason is that I was separated from my ex-wife in August 2018, and the divorce was finalized in March 2019. I have not seen her since then. However, she drove from Oregon to Canada in 2020 to "see me". I have a place in Canada, where I have taken her to on several occasions when we were married, to see my kids from my previous marriage. However, I was actually in the US on that occasion, but on learning was there, emotion came through me like a tidal wave recalling the trauma of the abuse she put me through while I was married to her, and I went to the police to file a report and obtain restraining order. The police woman advised me that, she will not be coming to Canada anytime soon because the border was being closed because of corvid. These are traumatic emotions that I thought I have dealt with and put away through therapy. Did not know that I can still recall the lingering effect of that trauma.
  13. Hello All, This is a summary of the update on this case. your input will be appreciated. 1) I submitted a I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence on Feb., 2019. during the divorce from my USC wife which she filed. 2) I equally submitted N-400 Application for Naturalization on Aug., 2020 as VAWA with evidence with evidence of theft from me, seizing my car keys thereby preventing me from going to work. Also, I submitted reports from psychology and urologist. 3) I was invited for a combo interview in June 2022, I passed the N-400 test and was issued an I-751. I sought the service of a lawyer. At first the lawyer advised to withdraw the VAWA because the bar is too high for a man to meet. Eventually, she helped me replied to the RFE, and I believed her partner advised her to keep the VAWA application, this time using some of the evidence my USC wife submitted when she filed for the divorce. 4 Since we submitted the RFE in October, 2022 we have been waiting. Also I have noticed the following in myUSCIS account: Question, is the above expression, "your case status is unavailable at this time..." because of VAWA application? Please your input will be appreciated. Meanwhile, my N400 is still the same: As someone suggested a while back, I should "see your Therapist for a session or two to substantiate the lingering aftermath of your Lorena Bobbit ex". Is this advise still applicable? Or I should wait for the decision on I-751? Again your input is highly appreciated.
  14. Hello All, I just got a mail asking me to submit a Request for Evidence for I751 Application. I submitted the application Feb 2019 when I was going through my divorce. The i751 was was based on battery and/or extreme cruelty. Meanwhile, I applied for N400 on the basis of VAWA at the 3 year mark of obtaining the G.C. and while i751 is still pending. Please note that I used the same battered/cruelty evidences that I used for my i751for my N400. I was invited for interview in early July, and the USCIS asked me to talk about the abuse, I talked about it for a while, and I found my self shaking, and almost hugging my suitcase it seems I was relieving the episodes all over again. I apologized and told the officer that all the evidences are there in my file. She proceeded to do the N400 interview which actually brought me out of the relieving the trauma again. 3 weeks later I got the request for more evidence. I have given all the evidences that I have namely, 3 police reports(one for when I was locked out of the house, another for throwing an object at me inuring my eye and another for stealing my property) , the Radiologist picture of trauma to the back of my head, Urologist report showing scare tissue in my male anatomy, Psychologist Report that the radiologist sent me to seek counseling and Receipt of Cab that I took to work, on the day she seized my car keys thereby preventing me to go to work. The Psychologist advised me to move out of the house, that it was not safe for me to continue to live there. Upon learning that I was told to leave the house, she went and file for divorce. My ask is can I resubmit the same evidences again, perhaps a lawyer's submission of the same evidences with Lawyer's explanation? Please let me know what additional evidence that I should submit.? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Canadaex
  15. Hello, All: I submitted my N400 application in September 2020 via VAWA. I was finally asked to come in for interview, and I attended on 07/01/2022. However, the officer told me 2 interviews will be conducted, one for I-751 which was still pending when I applied for my N400 via vawa. I went through the interviews for about 1 hour, after which, the officer, made me to sign the Naturalization Certificate with my name and profile on it. I also signed the Oath Declaration all in softcopy on the iPad. The officer also asked me Allegiance to U.S. questions, which I answered in affirmative. After the interview the officer proceeded to give me another form N-652, stating that I have passed the English test and U.S. history and government tests. However, a decision cannot be made yet about my application. At this point, I don't know what to expect next, and when to expect a decision. I will appreciate your input, and thanks in-advance. 16. Thank you all for your inputs. In addition, I have spent a whole day trying to get a lawyer to help request a another date in accordance with @Rocio0010's suggestion. However, I have not been able to find one yet. Most replied that they have not done vawa before. Some assure it is not big deal to be late because of collision on highway such as I-5, and to request another date directly. Given that I have 30 days to reply, and felt like I should do something soon therefore, I respectively asked for another date while adding @Mike E's phrase 'My late arrival was because of a traffic accident that slowed traffic on southbound I-5." as the conclusion. Also, I added the receipt of gas purchase, and the parking slip I purchased at the USCIS office. This was also addressed to the benefit center in Missouri. that was the address on the NOA letter., not Seattle where I was asked to go for interview. Again, thanks.
  17. Hello, I was late for Naturalization today. I was traveling from Bellingham Wa, to Seattle WA, according to google map it should take me an hour an 45 mins. I got there late because of collision on highway, though the security guy told me to proceed, however, the interviewer told me I am free to go home. once home, I looked into my USCIS account, and there was already a letter with summary below: You were scheduled to appear for an interview on your application for Naturalization on at 12:00PM. Our records indicate you failed to appear for this interview. You have thirty (30) days from the date of this notice to explain why you did not appear. Failure to respond to this notice will result in your application being administratively closed without further action. So, I quickly prepared a letter letter: USCIS 12500 TUKWILA INTERNATIONAL BLVD SECOND FLOOR SEATTLE, WA 98168 re:Lateness for appointment letter Dear USCIS Officer, Attached below my reasons for being late for the appointment on. As noted below I left home in Bellingham on 10:00 AM. I was able to make COSTCO gas station at 16616 Twin Lakes Ave, Marysville, WA 98271 to get gas at 10:55 AM. Please see receipt attached. Image of receipt with time stamp here. According to Google Map this should get me to your office at 11:45 AM. Please see below - Google direction attached here. However, there was collision on Higway-5 which I ran into after purchasing gas. Please see below: Also, I actually made it to your office, after going through security I went straight to the SECOND FLOOR as was BOLDLY written in the mail sent to me. I was on the SECOND FLOOR for a while together with others waiting for interview. However, I felt concerned that my name was not called, hence I asked someone beside me, and he said I had to check-in downstairs first and obtained a number. I went downstairs again, and this time the officer asked took my fingerprints, and picture, and she noticed that I was late for my appointment. She suggested to wait in the interview room while she contacted the interviewing officer. She came back shortly, that the interviewing officer said, "I am free to go home because I was an hour late, and I should be expecting a letter in the mail." Regards, Applicant. ASK: is the response above reasonable, or should I look to get a lawyer to respond accordingly? Notice, I applied for citizenship on WAVA because of spousal abuse. Note also, that the pictures above might not be accurate, but I DEFIENETELY saw notice on the highway traffic board that "Collision on left lane southbound I-5 and interstate 259" at Everette that explained the gridlock. If anyone knows where to get accurate traffic report. I will be grateful. Also,
